A Novel Idea on Passyunk is truly a gem in the Philadelphia literary scene! As a local author, I can’t say enough about how much this independent bookstore does to support our community. They have a dedicated section for Philly writers and small presses right at the front, which is so rare and appreciated. Alexander and Christina have created such a cozy, inclusive community event space in East Passyunk. Whether you’re looking for a new release, attending one of their many author events, or just want to support a local business, this is the place to go. If you love books and want to support the people who write them, definitely stop by!
Found this gem on Passyunk ave! Walked down one day to find a book I really wanted. They were out so the gentlemen quickly ordered it for me and recommended an awesome read. Great service and recommendation.
Outside of the public library, this is our go-to stop for books. Christina and Alex are delightful and true members of the community. If they don't have the book you are looking for, they will order it for you! I also really enjoy their evening children's storytime sessions - as a mom with a 9-5 job, I often miss out on the daytime kids' events in the city, so it is nice to have an after-work option
I honestly love stopping in here whenever I’m on Passyunk. I loved the horror selection they had this past October and the cashier was very helpful with guiding me towards some horror books I would be interested in. It’s very cute and cozy inside and they have seats where you can read the books you just bought. They also have some books from local authors which is awesome
This a quite interesting bookstore in Philly. Small but warm and cozy place of collections. If you love book just try to stop by you may find interesting book.
This is my neighborhood book shop, and I am so very grateful that it exists. The owners are clearly passionate and well informed about all of the books they carry. They're always willing to order in books that they don't have on hand.
I was recommended to come here from a very knowledgeable person in the neighborhood. I went to see what it was like, and A Novel Idea on Passyunk seems like a wonderful experience in a local Philly neighborhood. The room is spacious, and carefully curated with literature. The contrast between this space and other bookstores may be that there is not an overwhelming sense of choice. This is different and it is refreshing, because it allowed me to peruse. It felt as if the space offered a moment to have deep conversation amongst well-written authors. I would recommend grabbing a coffee from one of the neighboring coffee shops and browsing A Novel Idea on Passyunk. It may be the modern day feel of a Paris salon during the Enlightenment!
