The Book Exchange in Port St. Lucie

This little shop is a delight to explore. The staff are welcoming, the finds are one-of-a-kind, and despite its size, the selection is impressively varied. If you enjoy browsing used books and uncovering hidden gems, this place is a must-visit.

I love supporting small businesses so it pains me to write a negative review. I was shopping in Port St. Lucie for the day when I stumbled upon The Book Exchange. It is very uninviting from the outside because you can't see inside the windows. I almost skipped going in but after looking at some photos online I was curious and decided to check it out anyway despite my negative first impression. The aisles are filled floor to ceiling with books arranged by categories. After looking around for a few minutes I wanted to ask about prices so I went to the counter where an older lady with bleached blond hair was working. I inquired about how much the books cost but she gave a vague answer that they are different prices. I tried to dig deeper to find out how I would know what they cost. Where they marked or did I just have to bring up the book I was interested in to find out? Before I finished she cut me off with a rude "I don't have time to price all of these books!" I felt like I was asking a fairly simple question but she made it clear that I was irritating her so I left. My encounter here was very strange because typically everyone I meet in Port St. Lucie are delightful. It was one of the reasons I came her to shop on my day off. I was hoping to grab a few books but I know a lot of other friendlier and more welcoming places to spend my money.

Super cute bookstore! Reminds me of those old school record/ music stores up north , just filled with books in this case. I did find it a bit pricing considering they’re used. For one book I was looking at, at the store it was $10.45 and in Amazon it was $10.55, for .10 cents more I can get it brand new versus used. For the other it was $9.35 and brand new $9.76.

I've never gotten a book for this wonderful story and not loved it. My favorite spot to le the books pick me. Great selection to choose from and wonderful staff. Totally recommend.

Googled book stores near me and this one came highly rated. I decided to stop in and instantly fell in love. The feel of the store was great; books from floor to the ceiling (literally). Absolutely loved it. There is so much to choose from! Megan is very kind and definitely knows her store. Anything I asked for she walked me over everytime. Will definitely be shopping here again. !

I got over charged for my books by like total 30 dollars unfortunately, unless the sticker prices do not represent the actual price. One book I got charged more than a new copy. Also didn’t tell me how much store credit my books traded in for ? It was at the end of the day and I didn’t realise till after leaving. I like shopping here but be careful about the sticker prices on the books cause they do not reflect the actual prices of the books.

Joyce is absolutely the best! She's so knowledgeable and I liked that she showed me around and gave me suggestions. I felt very comfortable walking in and will absolutely return! 😁
