Charlie’s Queer Books

Didn’t end up buying any books because I’m the most indecisive person on the planet—give a girl queer YA, sci-fi and romance options and her head will explode. But look at these neat stickers I got instead! Very sweet and welcoming staff. To the cashier: it was a pleasure talking music and not-so-favorite kpop group members with you. 🫰

Charlie's is an adorable standalone bookstore with a fantastic selection of queer books for all ages. Non-fiction, spirituality and religion, poetry, history, literary and genre fiction. Their ingenius system for highlighting what representation is featured in each book involves little laminated flag bookmarks for the various identities represented. It made it so easy to find a sapphic fantasy romance without having to memorize titles beforehand or searching for covers with two femmes in the illustration! They also have a fantastic sticker selection, and a reading room and meeting place available on the second floor! What I loved the most was the little nook of children's books, from board books to picture books, so parents and kiddos could take a moment to read together in a family-friendly, joyful, deliberately queer space. Whenever I'm in Fremont again, I'll be making an extra stop into Charlie's Queer Books for the excellent book selection and the exquisite vibes! ❤️🏳️‍🌈

Excellent place to get LGBTQIA+ types of literature. Literally like any bookstore (nonfiction, fiction, adult, graphic novels, etc.) but all books are LGBTQIA+ books. This makes it not only a unique store, by your go-to location for anything gay written on paper. I finished reading the Green Creek series and had no idea what to do next. The employee (not Charlie, I forgot her name unfortunately) was very helpful and went through a lot of effort to find more books I might like. I left with 3 books, 2 of which were her recommendations. They'll take very good care of you here. 🥰 P.S. the bathroom is so nice I overheard people complimenting it. 😋

This place is a GEM! The books are carefully curated and wonderfully chosen. Charlie and Madeline are so incredibly sweet. This is one of the few places in Seattle I don’t feel rushed out of and truly feel like I can take my time and enjoy being there. This place is so incredibly welcoming, beautiful, and I can’t say enough positive things about it. The sitting room upstairs was so wonderful and cozy during a rainy day. I can tell Charlie picks out the books so thoughtfully and with so much care. You’re sure to find some great finds, both the classics and something new! I can’t recommend Charlie’s enough!

What a treat of a bookstore! Staff member Will was a delight, with great recommendations and exceptional customer service. I’ll definitely visit again next time I’m in town.

Heaven can wait because there's a pink and purple bookstore right here in Seattle. Charlie's is the sweetest space and has such a wonderful curation. Go for the books, stay for the merch and the bathroom and the goofy conversation you will surely have with the incredible staff!!!!!

Super cute independent queer literature bookstore. They have merch, stickers, kid's section, a reading room and gifts. They also have community events. The bathroom alone deserves a separate review; it is just soo georgeous. The website is cool too.
