Paperbacks Plus Book Store

They pack a ton of use books in a small space. Good selection. But ask for prices so you won't get sticker shock if you don't know the cost and go to check out. (Some used books in here can be pricey).

First of all, I was treated as if I were an inconvenience for being in the store. Do you want people to buy your books or not? When I was browsing the older woman (based on reading other reviews I'm guessing she is the owner?) seemed irritated that I was even there. Secondly, when I went to purchase a book the older man working made a comment that seemed to be judging whether I could afford the book or not. It was a signed first edition hardcover book, so I didn't even bat an eye at the $30 price tag. Seemed pretty reasonable to me. Maybe the regulars are used to cheaper prices? Not sure. He then proceeded to mansplain to me why the book was in an acid-free plastic covering and boasted about how he collects signed first editions, "but not that one" and implied misogynistic comments about the author. If it hadn't been a signed first edition of a book I previously regretted donating after reading I would have just left without buying anything. It was my first and definitely last time at this business.

A hidden gem in North St Paul! It's a treasure trove of books! The owner is so kind! Accessibility is a little difficult but they know what they got and are so helpful! They brought me an edition of a book of an author I love that was one of a kind. Don't miss going to this place!

Glad these Types of bookshops are still around. Probably over 100k books in stock, mostly used, 1st editions can also be found. Terrifically friendly owner. Hope you'll stop in and buy a book to support these small business.

A really fun little bookstore, full of charm in all its nooks and crannies.

Don’t let the unassuming storefront fool you - this is a great, large used bookstore with a huge selection! General fiction, mystery, romance, horror, westerns, kids books, science fiction and fantasy, adventure and a lot of nonfiction sections are among the offerings. For the most part books are half off the cover price ($3 minimum), with some special editions otherwise marked. I’ve been here a few times and always find what I’m looking for, and usually more! I buy coffee at the shop next door and have fun browsing. Enjoy!

Have always seen this shop in downtown and have never stopped in until recently. There are TONS of books, no way you're leaving there without a book! This is now going to become one of my go-to bookstores for older titles.
