Cambria Hotel New Haven University Area

Let me begin by stating I am not a huge reviewer. However, I believe the hotel and the experience myself and my 27 students had warrants one. After arriving in New Haven for a Yale Conference, we realized our initial hotel would not be sufficient nor compatible with what we needed. After leaving, we scrambled to find a place to stay and luckily we found this oasis. After speaking with Ed and his helpful staff, we were able to get rooms that were extremely clean, modern and safe with breakfast in the morning and an extremely easy transition into checking in and out. We felt so fortunate to find this place and are planning on coming back our next year in New Haven. We sincerely appreciate all staff members who helped us!

Stayed at Cambria for one night and it’s a very modern hotel with paid secured parking. This was my first time so I did not use amenities or eat at hotel but the room was very spacious and clean! There are no carpets in the room probably why it smelled amazing and front desk was very responsive and effective to any questions I did have.

it’s insane to me that this hotel doesn’t have higher ratings. my wife and i visited new haven on our anniversary and stayed here. did not have a single problem! for the price point, this hotel is beautiful in every regard! it’s a 15 minute walk to the green. easy uber/lyft pickups. 10/10, we will definitely be back!

I stayed here during a recent visit to Yale and would happily stay again. The room was large, quiet, clean and reasonable value. The only concerns were: the room and ground floor were strangely chilly. Service for breakfast was extremely slow despite there being no other customers.

Stayed at this hotel due to vicinity of Yale and it was a nightmare. We checked in close to 11:30pm on a Sunday night. First room we went into, shower was clogged. Water would not drain. We had to turn off the water mid shower and let the water slowly drain. We asked for a new room shortly after. Room 2 had skin flakes and tiny pieces of hair all over the bed. We let front desk know and he told us he could "lint it off". That is disgusting. We want clean sheets not dirty sheets that appear to be clean. This shows the low standards of this hotel. I wonder if that’s what they do to all beds, just lint off hair and skin flakes after each guest. We then asked for a new room because we were not going to just "lint it off". Room 3, as soon as we went through the door, it reeked of urine smell. At this point we had front desk guy come in with us, and he initially said he didn’t smell anything but clearly you could smell urine. He then proceeded to say the smell is from wood. Now since when did wood smell like urine? It smelled like nyc public bathrooms. We ended up going to room 2 and we had to change the sheets on our own sheets. We wanted to get a refund and leave that very night to go to a separate hotel but someone wasn’t there to authorize refunds. So we attempted to get comped for the night and the remaining night at the hotel the following morning around 9am and they refused to comp us for the night but refunded us for the remaining night. What a terrible hotel, safe to say I would never stay here again.

I was so impressed with the Cambria Hotel!!! It was beautiful!! The reception area, the bar area, and our room were all so clean and welcoming!! I loved that there were no carpets in our room!! That’s the one thing that always bothered me about other hotel rooms! There was an ice machine close by our room and ordering delivery to the hotel was so easy!! I was a patient at Yale University hospital the next day and received a discount for our stay because of that! I would highly recommend the Cambria hotel!!

It was good value for the money. I liked the contemporary decor in the common areas and the room. While the hotel is only a few years old, the rooms are showing some wear and tear. The front desk personnel were all very professional, friendly, and helpful. The servers at the lobby restaurant were fine. They were coolly efficient. Not friendly or welcoming. I expected to have housekeeping when I took my "Do Not Disturb" sign off the door. I didn't put the "Need Service" sign. Nothing was done to make the bed.
