An affordable alternative to Annapolis! Great folks that love sailing and sharing the experience. Really nice boats, fun events, and easy to get to in Baltimore Peninsula.
I am a member and volunteer in this newly formed (2024) sailing club located at a brand new residential community in Baltimore. The members are the movers and shakers of this sailing community. We do it all from sailing, learning, working on boat maintenance and socializing with great people. What a wonderdful opportunity to learn and sail in the Baltimore Harbor and Chesapeake Bay. Check us out on the website to learn more about this great club.
Peninsula Sailors is a community sailing center dedicated to fostering a love for sailing. The club offers weekly member sails and hosts frequent social and educational events. It emphasizes that sailing is a lifelong learning experience, and its members are passionate about mentoring both new and experienced sailors. Fun and learning are core values of the club. Members have numerous opportunities to get out on the water, including Wednesday and Sunday member sails, full moon sails, Sunday Funday races, day swim trips, and weekend excursions throughout the Chesapeake Bay. The club's fleet primarily consists of Beneteau sailboats, all of which are maintained in pristine condition by its dedicated volunteer members. These passionate volunteers play a crucial role in keeping the club affordable for everyone. Peninsula Sailors is located on the scenic Baltimore peninsula at the Port Covington Marina, which boasts excellent facilities and a pavilion for hosting monthly social events.
Sailed there frequently this summer. Nice location in Baltimore Peninsula. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, security patrols, and great midsize sailboats. The people are very helpful and share their knowledge. I felt a real sense of community at this place.
I’ve been a member since this club started in 2024. Great location and welcoming members make this a wonderful organization. The variety and quality of the cruising boats are a plus.
Excellent group to sail with! I also took advantage of the SLC certification through their education program.
If you're looking to sail, continuously learn, and have fun on the water at an affordable price, you've come to the right web page! Peninsula Sailors is a sailing club formed by friends who sailed together for years. It was founded not to make a profit, but to make sailing accessible to everyone. And it lives up to that goal! Members have an opportunity to go sailing at least twice a week during the season without having to pre-schedule a sail. These "Member Sails" - on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons - are a great way to enjoy being on the water with friends in a relaxed and fun setting. In addition, there are many more opportunities to sail other times during the week with one of the club's many skippers. (Hence my qualification: "at least twice a week"). Members communicate with each other using an online forum which makes it easy to schedule a sail on short notice. And once you've gained sufficient experience, you can check out to become a skipper, pass some tests and then go out on your own sails and take others out. The learning aspect is an integral part of the Peninsula experience. Even the most experienced skippers are constantly learning from each other, so you can imagine how much a new sailor can learn from sailing with these experienced folks. And the skippers who themselves learned to sail in this manner are generous with their time and willingness to teach new sailors, constantly "paying it forward!" Finally, if you're interested in learning about boat maintenance, this is the club to join! The membership has built up a very strong institutional knowledge-base and gained experience maintaining the boats over the years, and if you join in the boat-maintenance "work parties," you will yourself gain all the experience that you may someday need when you own your own boat! The club has 5 beautiful vessels: 4 monohulls - 3 Beneateau's ranging from 32-41 feet and a Pearson 39 - and one Fountaine Pajot 44' catamaran. What more can a sailor ask for??
