Safe Harbor City Boatyard

Excellent yard. One of the best I’ve seen and used in 6 years of sailing the world. Service department had excellent communication. The transparency was hugely welcomed. Casey and his team are excellent. Will definitely be back again.

I had a terrible experience with another shop working on my Mercury 150. Called these folks and explained my situation. They sent someone out the next day. Within 20 minutes, they identified the problem and explained the issue to me (I know nothing about boats). I had them undertake the repair, which they did within a day of me signing off. Totally different experience from the other shop. We couldn’t be happier.

Despite not having the biggest or most expensive boat in the yard, they treated us as if we did. From the moment our boat arrived, they consistently surpassed expectations, taking the initiative on various aspects before we even thought to ask. The team, including Wolfie, Donnie, Casey, and the rest, demonstrated exceptional skills and professionalism. They were accommodating and kept us informed. I have complete confidence in Safe Harbor City Boatyard's ability to handle projects of any size. Thank you!

While this isn’t the least expensive boat yard in Charelston the staff is fantastic and their service writer is a long time sailor and an extremely knowledgeable professional. If I needed to do more work on my boat or a clients boat I would definitely come back.

As a new customer of the Yard following the import of a boat from Europe, I was able to benefit from an incredible service from Allison F. throughout the whole process. Extremely courteous and quick to answer all my numerous questions every time. A huge thanks to her!

Beware: unlike other Safe Harbor yards the Charleston City Boatyard is a criminal enterprise. They overcharge beyond what you might think possible for work that is of very poor quality. They would not give me an estimate for an oil change but said it would be time plus materials. Fine. They charged something like 30 hours of labor for a job that takes 3. I had a bottom job done and they painted the running with propspeed which was expensive ($5k) which is to be expected if it's done right. Of course they didn't prep the metal at all and it washed off after a few months showing the previous paint still on the running gear. Do not trust this outfit with your boat.

Over the course of the past few years, I've had opportunity on multiple occasions to interact with Safe Harbor City Boatyard. I find the entire crew to be very knowledgeable and professional. Timelines and costs are always laid out ahead of time, the quality of work has always met or exceeded expectations. I'm especially fond of their cosmetic group, I don't believe there is any better in the area.
