South Pier

A must-stop for fishing. Fished here all of my life. Today I was catching about six, keeper-sized Pearch per hour, on minnows and had the entire pier to myself. So lovely in the fall.

We went on a rainy day, but were not disappointed. All we really did was walk all the way out and back to the parking lot, but it was a quiet spot without a lot of people. There are covered picnic tables near the parking lot. I don't recall if the access to walking down the pier has a wheelchair accessible entrance; I only recall some steep concrete steps. When you first walk up, there are some chains to warn you to keep back from the edge, but as you walk further out, there are no guard rails or anything, so I don't recommend taking small children that way. When it's sunny, there is no shade at all. It was a lovely walk though. I would definitely walk my dogs there, take my older children four a quiet walk, etc.

Not great for fishing for game fish but if you want to a decent fight the sheepshead are fun to catch. Sunset was beautiful.

Great relaxing place to go to walk or fish.

Fishing peacefully and enjoying the weather, and watching the ships coming into the Bay, The Flag Ship is always nice to see coming into the Bay.
