It's been some 35 years since I first walk into charter oak landing during the flood season. I was fascinated about high the river was. As a marathon swimmer who enjoys rivers and lakes , oceans and streams, I will say that the Connecticut River is one of the most unpredictable ribbons of water one could go in. The park hasn't changed much at all with picnic tables playgrounds, and people fishing off the edge under the charter oak bridge and other various past times. I highly recommend anyone who loves nature but is close to the city... To just jump in their car and be at charter oak landing in a short time. Enjoy the sunrise, and embrace the day!!

What a beautiful walking/running path along the Connecticut River here in Hartford. Very well-maintained and safe area to get out and about and exercise. Plenty of fishermen along the shores and lots of places to sit and watch the river go by. Go get some fresh air and clear your head!

Nice place to hang out and fish. Can't wait until the weather stays consistently warm, fishing should be better...

We go here for the Riverfront fireworks every year, and sit by the water, near the bridge. It's the perfect view of the display, and pretty easy to get out of. I haven't been here any other time, but it seems like a serene place <3

After the discovery of the more natural part of this Park on the West Bank of the CT River, I just can't help returning. By strolling up the immediate raised bank of the waterway, Northbound from the esteemed Charter Oak Bridge, one can see plenty of vegetation. On some days, further up , away from the visitors, we might also see Beaver, muskrat, and winged birds like Red Tail hawk, Heron, and even an occasional Bald Eagle. As a marathon swimmer I get to see all of this and more in our Grand flowing CT River. And .....? Downtown Hartford is always looming within view, just up by the famed founders bridge. All in all a spectacular destination.

Who doesn't like charter? O'clande, good for taking a walk. Good for exercise Good for just watching the water feeding the birds. Good for memories, good for outdoor barbecuing. Good on rainy days. You can go under the bridge and watch the water decompress. I hope it stays in our generations for years to come
