So I went to Tony's Corner Pocket this past Saturday night, a place that I typically have enjoyed the first couple times I went there. However, the other night was not good. I was sitting at the bar that faces the stage. Next to me was a lady by the name Nancy, a lady I never met. To make a long story short, Nancy stole my wallet and ran up some charges on my credit cards. I have proof it was her. The reason I am posting this here is because I have reason to believe that I was drugged by her or the bartender. I asked the bartender to hold my drink behind the bar while I went to use the restroom. MISTAKENLY I should've never drank the drink after leaving it unattended. There were two bartenders, one white and the other Hispanic and both were males. The reason I feel my drink was drugged is because after that, I have no recollection of anything. Thankfully I made it home safely, and once I woke up and realized my wallet was gone I canceled all my cards. I called up there Sunday morning and I spoke to the manager, Josh. He said he would look at camera footage to confirm what happened and he would call me back. I have yet to hear back. I tried calling back a 2nd time and did not get an answer. I called again today (1/20), and was told by the person who answered the phone that Joshua the manager would not be in today and try back tomorrow. At this point it seems as if the manager if hoping this situation goes away and I just forget about it. That won’t happen. As l've been able to piece things together, it feels like maybe Nancy and the bartenders were in on this. That is what I will assume until they give me answers based on the camera recordings. They have been unwilling to do so at this point and I am debating filing a police report and going to the local news channels with this.
A small, hole in the wall gay bar with tired old drag queens, a dozen or so Latin/Black go go dancers that pay no attention to you, and sleazy customers who grope the dancers. Other than the bartender outside who was fun and friendly, this place was D.O.A. Dancers were attractive but pre-occupied. Sad because I had lots of $ to tip them.
We were enjoying our time with our aunt ‘cause it was her birthday and apparently the Manager decided to shut us down. I tried to explain it was her birthday and he said the phrase: "I don’t care". I would never speak to one of my customers like that, even if I’m 100% sure I’m right. So his manners made us feel really unwelcome. The rest of the experience was fine.
The drinks here are cheap and pretty good. You meet new people here but it’s a hit or miss. The bartenders usually be friendly. Be warned about the dancers though because they are not a fan of black or any other different race other then Latino/hispanic. But other then that it’s pretty good
I walked into the bar and was immediately greeted by a warm, friendly atmosphere. The bartender was great, and I even got to meet Tony, the owner, who took the time to chat with me for several minutes and made me feel truly welcome. The drinks were perfectly made, and I’ll definitely be coming back!
Gotta love Tony’s Corner Pocket. Sometimes I wonder where the bartenders are. Their bodies are there, but often times don’t see the customer with it with a 20 at the bar waving it frantically. The atmosphere is great. The people are fun and the view of downtown is amazing.
Every time I landed in Houston, this is my first stop. Gilbert is the best bartender ever. The staff is friendly. They have arcade games from back in the day. They really make you feel at home. Tony and his team are so much fun The bar does have an amazing outside area. Come check them out. Drinks are cheap.
