The Ramble

Not so popular part of the park. Many tourist do not even go up here. Go and explore those paths.

In my opinion, the Ramble is the best part of Central Park! The winding trails and heavily wooded areas transport you out of the city for an hour or two. Make sure to check out scenic spots like the Arch and the hilltop viewpoint for great views of the city.

Beautiful place for birdwatching or just to calm yourself down. So much better than the touristy parts of Central park. Keep the phone in your pocket and enjoy.

Nice short hike with lots of shade. We didn’t do the guided tour, so we couldn’t go down but will definitely do it next time. The trail has eight stations with information about the geological history of the landscape. The trail ends at station eight and you will walk it back the same way. They have water stations to refill water bottles on the way and a toilet at the start and end of the trail.

We like talking walks through The Ramble during visits to Central Park. This is approx. 35 acres where you find a web of footpaths winding through bouldered and wooded areas of the Park. The Ramble is between The Lake and the 79th St. transverse street. During a recent visit, we enjoyed seeing some trees in spring bloom. Quite a few small groups of birdwatchers wandering the grounds at this time as well. Its a good spot to just grab a park bench and just enjoy time passing by. All in all, we enjoy The Ramble, it is one of the areas within Central Park where you really start to feel like you have escaped the city and are in a true rural setting.
