Nice station with a art gallery. This is a preserved older train station made of red bricks. Used for connecting to Fort Worth or OKC. I noticed only two people that looked homeless and hanging around to the north sheltered covered area of the station. Parking is only for one hour.

Nice historic depot. Clean bathrooms. Good number of trees by the platform. I do like seeing a bike rack out front. Only one bench though. Need a few more on the platform.

Amtrak station is staffed by volunteers in the morning for the train to Fort Worth. There is long-term free parking on the east side of James Garner Avenue near Eufala Street. Short term parking (an hour or so) is in front of the station on Jones Ave. Toilets and heated/air conditioned waiting area in the morning starting around 8am. In the evening the station is not staffed, but it is a safe area and reasonably OK at night. Built in 1909 for the Santa Fe railroad, the depot is currently owned by the City of Norman and used by a local arts group and also rented to the public for private events.

Location is always clean and temperature controlled making it a nice place to hang out until the train arrives. There is always someone there to answer any questions as well. A friend of mine also had their wedding reception at this location and it was a unique and cute place that really didn’t have to be decorated too much in order to appreciate it.

I've lived in Norman since 1953 & grew up on the East side of town. We have alot if things to see & do.
