Beautiful place just to sit and enjoy nature.

This is a great park in Oakland. Kind of a hidden gem IMO. There is a pedestrian freeway overpass that connects to Leona park on the other side of HWY13, where there are trails going all the way up to Merritt College along a creek that flows down the hill all year, but especially during the rainy season. Leona park has a pond in the lower area with a lot of turtles and frogs living in it, as well as visiting ducks. The upper area of this park is reserved for a fly-fishing club or something. There are often anglers practicing their technique, and there are competitions sometimes.

Discovered this place 5 years ago. It's meant for fly catching or some sport like that. I just love being in the midst of the trees and water. It's always so quiet and peaceful.

So many childhood memories here. We only know this place as "The trout ponds". Every summer the Police Activities League would fill the ponds in the back with trout and we would fish. All the hidden trails and tunnels were a treat too.

The locals are happy to teach fly fishing for free once a month. The flowing creek, picnic tables and big trees are beautiful.
