Lots of shade throughout the trails, if you decide to walk the pavement trail it should be easy enough for children and family. I would leave the dirt trails for more experienced hikers. One thing I noticed is that the trail and creek are clean and well maintained compared to others I’ve seen! Also, at the time I hiked, there was some construction and certain trails closed just fyi. The restrooms are ok. There are several benches throughout the trail for you to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet! The tower provides an awesome view and really makes you feel you are surrounded in mother nature! I can say so far this is one of my best trails! Definitely will be back!
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas is a true hidden gem and one of the best outdoor spaces in North Texas. The preserve offers a perfect mix of natural beauty and well-maintained trails, making it ideal for hikers, runners, families, and anyone looking to unwind outdoors. The paved and unpaved trails are clearly marked and suitable for all fitness levels, whether you want a leisurely walk or a more challenging hike through the rolling hills. The scenery is beautiful year-round, with wildflowers in the spring, shaded paths in the summer, colorful foliage in the fall, and peaceful open views in the winter. The overlook tower provides a great view of the surrounding landscape and is well worth the short climb. Arbor Hills is also very clean and well cared for, with helpful signage, restrooms near the entrance, and plenty of parking. It’s dog-friendly, family-friendly, and a great place for photography, picnics, or simply getting some fresh air. Overall, Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is a wonderful escape from city life without leaving town. Whether you’re looking for exercise, relaxation, or a scenic spot to explore nature, this preserve is absolutely worth a visit.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is one of those places that makes you forget you are anywhere near a city. I stopped by while visiting clients in Plano and it blew me away. Wide open trails, quiet pockets of nature, and views that look way better in person than any photo you try to take. The creek, the overlook, the wildlife, all of it feels calm and clean. You can walk, jog, or just sit and regroup for a minute and no one bothers you. Perfect spot to clear your head before meetings or after a long travel day. If every city had a preserve like this, people would probably be a lot nicer.
This is the most beautiful place in DFW. Lovely, assessible, well kept. I have enjoyed walking in every season. My big kids loved the play ground. The whole place is dog friendly. Feels really safe. Paved ways and dirt trails
This park is on a smaller scale, but diverse. There are three types of habitats, with various fauna and flora. The paths are well maintained, easily accessible by strollers, or wheelchairs. There are bike trails. We walked the cca 2-mile loop in about 40 minutes, but there are more paths for longer walks. There are occasional elevation changes. The restrooms are not the best looking, but had soap, water and toilet paper. The best feature is the ice cream truck positioned at the parking lot. The parking lot is quite large, for about 100 vehicles.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is one of my favorite places to relax and reconnect with nature. The trails are clean, well-marked, and surrounded by beautiful trees, open fields, and scenic views. I love how there’s something for everyone — paved paths for easy walks, dirt trails for a little adventure, and even a lookout tower with an amazing view!
I visited Arbor Hills today. I used to frequent this area just to spend time in nature and enjoy my walk. I haven’t been to this area in a while until today because I moved out of the area. But today was a special day because I decided to come back and visit this beautiful nature preserve. Indeed, Arbor Hills is a nature preserve. As you’re walking this season, you will notice the beautiful grassy plains swaying in the wind. There are an abundant of trails that you can take to explore different areas of the preserve. It is a great place to casually ride your bike and is also a popular destination for photography. The nature preserve also has a well equipped playground for children to play and bathrooms for men and women and a family bathroom. There is also a picnic area that you can reserve to have gatherings. Arbor Hills is a great place to walk your dog as they provide poop bags along the main path. After finishing your walks and explorations, treat yourself to some ice cream from the ice cream truck that usually is parked near the restrooms in the afternoons, ready to happily serve customers.
