What a great spot. We spent a few hours paddling around and loved it. Wife had 2 manatee go right under her kayak. Didn't know what they were at first... Saw lots of big fish in the water also. The bathroom was clean and well maintained. The ramp is nice. Only good for smaller boats but very well maintained. The parking is $10 so it's expensive for a quick stop. The fishing dock looks good. Probably gets crowded but it's a spot to catch some decent fish.
One of the more interesting parks/preserves. Been here a few times and seems a favorite place for fishermen. I like it when you walk over the bridge you feel like you are on a deserted island. There was a spot that was cleared out and the next day at the same time I went is was underwater. Jenkins Creek Park, nestled in Hernando County, Florida, is a charming waterfront destination renowned for its scenic beauty and recreational opportunities. Situated along the banks of Jenkins Creek, this park offers visitors a chance to unwind amidst lush greenery and tranquil waterways. With amenities such as boat ramps, fishing piers, and picnic areas, Jenkins Creek Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking to indulge in activities like boating, fishing, and picnicking. The park's serene ambiance and stunning vistas make it a popular spot for nature lovers and families looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in Florida's natural splendor.
Great spot for fishing from the boardwalk or take one of the trails and find a nice spot on the riverbank... Saw a jetskier, and a kayaker... Also, a ramp to put your boat in... Picnic tables available, no grills... Clean restroom... Please everyone, bring a trash bag with you and help clean up the trails... Leave only your footprints!
Wonderful pier, easy access bathrooms that are cleaner than you would expect for a public park. Come sunset the views are magnificent. Have caught mangrove snapper, sheepshead channel cats, drum, toadfish but have yet to catch the jacks that all the kayakers claim to see! Have also seen people pull up skates! You'll also get a close up view of the wonderful wildlife of Florida; manatees, otters, egrets and herons are some of the main stars. For those who complain about parking price, get yourself a hernando all access pass for ~50 bucks and you'll be helping fund keeping our parks beautifully wild. Payment goes to up keep and it does seem those who don't pay, or complain about paying are the ones who contribute most to trashing the place. Litter can sometimes build up week to week but thats why I bring a trash bag. When the fishing slows down I go about picking up the odds and ends of fishing line, cigarette butts, etc that gathers. Keeping these places pleasant to frequent takes all of us, and if you really care for the natural beauty you'd lend a helping hand as well. Our amazing park employees can only do so much!
The parking lot, boat launch, and fishing pier is located across from the Linda Pedersen Park. We climbed the observation tower and saw a trail along the river. Boats going in and out. There is a nice place with palms for a selfie shot.
Nice place to fish. Convenient and quick, aways had fun
I recently had the pleasure of fishing at Jenkins Creek and I must say, it was an incredible experience. As an avid angler, I am always looking for new spots to explore and Jenkins Creek did not disappoint. I opted for flats fishing and was thrilled to catch several redfish during my visit. The area is teeming with these prized game fish. The water was crystal clear, which made it easier to spot the fish and target them precisely. What really stood out to me about Jenkins Creek was the natural beauty of the area. The marshes and grass flats provided a stunning backdrop to my fishing adventure, and I felt completely immersed in the natural surroundings. In terms of amenities, the facilities at Jenkins Creek are top-notch. The boat ramp is well-maintained and the dock is sturdy and safe. Overall, I highly recommend Jenkins Creek to any angler looking for a great flats fishing experience. The combination of the natural beauty, abundant fish, and excellent facilities make it a five-star destination in my book.
