FREE ADVICE!!! DO NOT USE VIKING TRAVEL. USE A TRAVEL ADVISOR/AGENT!!! We have a party of 18 people going on a cruise in November. They did not book us as a group and tried to have people on different flights flying to Europe and arriving at different times. it’s been an ordeal, trying to get people on the same flights and we were definitely a second, third or last thought for our Viking representative. On the return flight, we found premium economy to be cheaper than regular economy and because of their agreement with the airline, they will not change us. REMEMBER THAT THE PASSENGER IS LAST PRIORITY OF VIKING TRAVEL!! Book it yourself or use an agent. We’re all wondering what the cruise will like. We know what their travel department is like.

My husband and I went on a two week cruise to the Amazon river and the Caribbean January 2023. It is the most relaxing vacation we have ever had! The food was spectacular. They open seating and no children under 18 was very relaxing. The Nordic spa is fantastic. I actually became quite addicted to going from the Steam to the frozen room complete with snow! The choice of excursions was quite good, our favorite being going for one and a half hours up the Rio Negro river to swim with wild pink dolphins 🐬😃 The service was excellent, and you could have breakfast in your state room or on your private balcony or any one of several restaurants . We will definitely cruise with Viking again !

Viking is a cruise line not to be trusted based on my recent experience. Our cruise was scheduled to start Dec 9. In mid November 60% of ports were canceled replaced by many days at sea. Some passengers were offered full refund but not I or my travel agent. We had first to agree to a cancelation with no refund & then fight for a refund. Eventually we were told that all of our payments would be refunded. But that didn't happen. Viking held onto the vacation club points we had used until they expired & then formally gave us our now worthless points. Viking said they would reissue the future cruise credits we used with a new expiration date of June 2025 but in January 2025 Viking reissued our credit with an October 2024 expiration date-- again worthless. So we got less than 50% of our money back. Don't trust this company!

Everyone hyped Viking Cruises so we signed up for Grand European Tour. One excursion was not at all what they promised but once Viking has your money- not going to give anything back. This is a billion plus operation and they can’t refund $139.00???? Excursion awful!! potentially dangerous ( no mention in description). So Beware! Lots of other excellent cruise lines out there!

BEWARE FINAL PAYMENT DUE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CRUISE!!!! Most commercial cruise lines give you a lot more time to make that large payment for your cruise. I do believe this will be my last Viking cruise just for this reason. They hold onto my final payment for one year before I even step foot on one of their ships. They can reinvest and double the money and that time with my money. This is a horrible way to do business.

I'm a disabled senior who hasn't traveled in this century. They keep sending me brochures. They have been called, e-mailed, sent a message on Messenger they do not care and refuse to remove me.

VIKING MISSISSIPPI We have been spoiled by our previous Viking cruises and while the following might sound like nit picking, it’s Viking’s fault for treating us so well in the past. We, a party of six, were on the upper leg of the cruise, St Louis to St Paul. This cruise has the potential of being Vikings best river cruise. The ship is just about perfect. The ports are exactly what you expect them to be, River towns and cities that typify middle America. The excursions were spot on for the most part but there was a little problem in execution, nothing radical but lack of communication on some excursions allowed for lost time and lost opportunities. The scenery was outstanding. The views from your balcony were always a delight and the locks were an exceptional experience. Food was hit or miss. In the Restaurant, dining was a pleasure and most of the food was well plated and satisfying. Service in the Restaurant was excellent. At the River Cafe, there were problems with service and food. Buffet selections were not large, serving stations often not renewed quickly, or left long enough for items to lose their heat. The grill was a great idea but executed poorly. Lines were long and didn’t move very fast, meats not properly cooked to order, confusion as to what steak went to whom, etc. This could have been a great addition to the buffet but instead detracted from the experience. Service at the cafe was spotty too. Some waitstaff was effective and accommodating, others obviously undertrained or poorly motivated. I think our biggest complaint was with cabin housekeeping. We had the misfortune of having an inexperienced undertrained attendant. While very sweet and willing, she just constantly forgot things. You had to repeatedly ask for things she forgot, glasses, water, ice, towels, etc. She always forgot to restock our refrigerator with drinks and snacks. Our balcony was not cleaned until we complained. Housekeeping was, at least for us, the biggest issue. Finally, overall attention to detail was lacking. Empty dishes and glasses were often left on tables in the bar or lounges for hours. Self serve coffee and juice stations often were not restocked with cups and glasses. One coffee station was out of service for the entire trip. This is a new cruise for Viking on a new ship with new employees so I’m probably being too hard but this was an expensive cruise and we were expecting a Viking level of service. This was not quite there. We give it 3.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.
