I’m visiting from New York, and any time I travel I make it a point to find the local camera shops. Treehouse in Honolulu ended up being a really solid stop, easily one of the cooler film-focused shops I’ve visited in a while. The shop has this warm, creative vibe the moment you walk in. It’s small in a cozy, curated way, with shelves that feel thoughtfully put together rather than overcrowded. They carry a nice spread of film stocks, books, accessories, and a few gems you don’t always find easily. I picked up a couple items I wasn’t expecting to find, which was a great surprise. If you’re into photography Treehouse is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re stocking up on film, grabbing a gift, or just browsing, it’s the kind of shop that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something local and special. I’m glad I stopped in. I brought my film to Treehouse to get developed and had a great experience. The service was solid, the staff was respectful and helpful, and the prices weren’t crazy bad. I got my images back on time and will definitely be coming back to buy film from them.
Best staff and service, quick turnaround times in developing, beautiful scans, always patient with me and my crappy expired film 🙂
They have a wide variety of records in their store new ones and old ones as well as cassette tapes and cd’s. Great prices and really good service. If your record you want isn’t there you can order ask them to order it and they will happily call you when they have your record.
One of the best camera shops keeping analog alive! Friendly staff, great music, tons of film to choose from, and dope clothing. If you love cameras you HAVE to stop here! Quiet Life 4 Life
If I could rate zero stars, I would. For this owner, profit matters more than honesty or customer loyalty. This isn't a camera shop-it's a scam wrapped in a storefront. I have spent over $700 in repairs for a camera that I bought for $1,320 and was assured was in a good working order. The owner knowingly sells barely repaired cameras that they claim as good condition and will not accept responsibility for selling sub par gear at a mark up. I purchased a "CLA'ed" Leica from them for $1,320. 28 days later, and with only two rolls shot, the camera shutter broke. They lied to my face and told me that I was outside the 30 day window (this doesn't exist, it was incorrectly claimed by the store clerk) (25JAN->22FEB) before recanting and saying it's a 14 day period. Additionally, the camera repair technician the owners used to cla the Leica stated that "The camera is in poor condition. At the time of service, I did my best. If I repair everything, the cost will throw the dealer out." Which was not conveyed in the description of the camera. The technician isnt at fault, it is solely on the owner for maintaining a monopoly and treating his profit as the moral imperative instead of maintaining good customer relationships.
Store is cool but the girl had zero interest in speaking with us even though we were the only ones there. So we just looked around awkwardly for 5 min then left.
