Came for a friends/business meeting. Great environment and drinks selection. I ordered the Kobe burger and it was nothing to write home about. Basic burger with red onions, lettuce, tomato, no sauce or anything. Just a plain cheese burger that had Kobe. I recommend ordering any other burger and ask to substitute the meat for Kobe. That would have been the best move in hindsight. That was my first time there and eating, and will definitely comeback for something else or what I mentioned.
We went for dinner and sat at the bar. We had the Guinness beer cheese pretzels, which are very addicting. Sausage & Colcannon (mashed potatoes), Shepherds Pie. The food is really very good! Ended with an Expresso Martini. If you're into sports, have TV'S in various spots as well as outside.
Amazing food! Amazing Staff! Sosa and Joshua really stood out and made us feel welcome! Kirsten (manager) was very hospitable. If you come here get your food the SOSA WAY!
Love the vibe. Drinks were great. Cauliflower bites were good too.
4/3/2025 St. Stephen’s Green 223 Castro St Mountain View, CA 94041 I went there on a Thursday afternoon to try their Happy Hour. The Happy Hour menu is extensive and includes the Fish and Chips. It’s at the north end of Castro St. with standard city lots or parking structures nearby. The interior had the dim, cozy pub feeling similar to my experiences in the UK. Since I was a single I sat at the bar and ordered the Fish & Chips and an Oakland stout from the Super Happy Hour menu. The beer was about a half pint and very smooth and tasty. My food was brought to me by one of the kitchen staff. The filet as huge on a generous bed of fries. The thicker part my fish was extra crispy and when it got cold was hard as a rock. The fish itself appears to be frozen, some parts were flaky and some parts mushy. The Happy Hour was an okay value but I would try something else a next time. Definitely would not get the Fish & Chips again.
Lemon pepper wings were delicious, as were the selection of beer. Sat at the bar so service was great. Enjoyed the live music on Thursday night.
Is the food good? Yes. Is it worth supporting wage theft and mold? Absolutely not. I’m writing this as a huge disappointment because, honestly, the kitchen and bar staff here are talented. The food is consistently amazing, and the drinks are always on point. Under normal circumstances, this would be my go-to spot. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend Stephen Greens to anyone anymore. As a guest, you notice things. I’ve seen visible mold in the display fridges, which is absolutely stomach-turning. If that is what they are letting customers see in the front of house, I am terrified to know what the back looks like. The place feels like a walking health code inspection away from being shut down immediately. To make matters worse, the vibe is ruined by the management. I’ve witnessed managers being openly disrespectful to their staff in the middle of service. It makes the ambience uncomfortable and tense. Even worse, I’ve heard from reliable sources that management takes a cut of the servers' tips. That is illegal, unethical, and disgusting behavior. It doesn’t matter how good the burger or the cocktails are—do not give your money to a business that forces their staff to work in moldy conditions and then steals their hard-earned tips. Pro Tip: Go literally anywhere else until this place changes ownership or gets a visit from the health department.
