Had lunch with my dad here midweek. I had heard of this place since it was called Oklahoma Joe’s years ago, but never eaten here. Locales in your basic strip center. You order at one end of the counter and they put your meal together and pay at the other end of counter. I had heard there can been a long line most of the time, but not on this visit. I ordered the Z-man which is a brisket sandwich with provolone, and onion rings on a Kaiser bun with a side of potato salad. Dad got some ribs and fries so I got to try a few things. Z-Man was very tasty and a unique sandwich. The ribs my dad got were great as well. Fries also a hit and it was a huge order. They have a couple of sauces to choose from one is pretty standard and the other spicy. Both good additions if so desired. The one issue that made me give 4 star and not 5 was the potato salad. I love all types of potato salads and this one was one of the weaker ones I have had. Very one note and that not was very bland. Skip the potato salad is my suggestion. The Q potatoes as all very good and I would for sure not hesitate to come back.

PLANTMAN IOWA

Very good BBQ. We got a little sampling of most of their meats. Their chicken Z sandwich was really good. I highly recommend it. Pricing is really good. Expect to spend around $25 a person at the most without drinks.

Ate at KC Joe’s recently and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The meat was tender, smoky, and full of flavor, and the portions were generous. The line moved fast, the staff was efficient and friendly, and the whole place ran like a well-oiled machine. Whether it was the zman or the sides, everything tasted fresh and intentional. Hands down some of the best BBQ around, and always worth the stop. Hands down my favorite thing to eat was when they had their Hawaiian Zman 😋

As a first-time visitor to Kansas City, I had to try the famous burnt ends at Joe’s — and wow, they were incredible! 🔥 The meat was smoky, juicy, and packed with flavor, with those perfect crispy edges that make burnt ends so special. The portion was generous, served with pickles and toast, and it paired perfectly with their BBQ sauce. I also had a side of slaw and a soda, and everything just hit the spot. The atmosphere felt really authentic KC BBQ — casual, cozy, and full of character. Even sitting down with my tray, I felt like I was experiencing a true Kansas City tradition. If you’re visiting KC, don’t miss the burnt ends here. Totally worth the trip, and one of the highlights of my food adventures in town!

I ordered meat by the pound for pick up. Brisket was $24.99/pound and sounded really good! I also ordered a half pound of ham and half pound of sausage. When I got home I was disappointed to see the brisket sliced paper thin. It is good for a sandwich but if you’re looking for an actual piece of brisket to pick up this may not be what you want. See photo.

I drive all the way from Omaha for their Dirty Rice. Its that good. Im obsessed with it. Today I finally tried the red beans and rice. Its as close to southern home made as it gets. Lots of meat in it too. And lastly, the pickle chip that come with your order are almost as crave worthy as the rice! Brisket is good and smokey, its thin sliced-not my favorite way of cutting my favorite meat. Would be perfect thicker cut in my opinion. I dont normally like ribs. But they are so flavorful. Not dry, not soggy. All around my favorite place in KC.

The ribs were a little dry but good. Brisket was good but not happy about how thin the slices was ... beans and potato salad was spot on and the banana pudding was very good. Wish I bought more 😪
