Hip and trendy crowd varies by night and with events, always someone interesting to talk with, it seems. Friendly staff. Service good with one bartender. At times they have two, and it’s slower. 🤔
I want so much to like this new LGBT bar but the 3-4 experiences thus far have been underwhelming: First off, where is the music? Where is the dancing? You've got a little stage & dance floor! We walk in at 10:30 on a Friday night and not only is there no DJ, but tables have been put on the dance area, and the background music playing over the house speakers is too quiet to hear. Great for chatting, I guess, but BORING! Please, oh please, hook up any old streaming service to the amp and at least play Bowie and Gaga or some awful AI curated gay mix and let folks have a good time. And sadly, halloween was a complete bust: 35 minutes waiting at the counter (in between Jesus Christ and the Queen of England)--basically ignored--only to be served watered down drinks. But I still left a tip. Get it together Mary's!
A queer Kelley’s. Good vibes, cool lighting, a hint of brillobox style, w a queer foundation. Drinks were nice and priced decently. Bartender was cool, genuine, and helpful. While with some demographics this might not be your thing, but for those whose it is, you’ll be happy. *note, I’m not sure how this is at different times of night, packed or less packed. When somewhat busy, the vibe is lively yet chill.
Lovely little family run establishment. Took my granddaughter here for her 13th birthday. Everyone was so kind. Granddaughter had a terrific time.
Always nice to have a new place to hang out. Great atmosphere. Nice and friendly staff. Check out the wallpaper in the bathroom. Nice drinks and a great DJ.
5/30/25: My girlfriend and I were excited to check out Mary’s, the newest gay bar in Pittsburgh, hoping for a fun night out in a fresh, inclusive space. First impressions? The decor is fabulous. It’s clear someone put a lot of thought into creating a visually appealing, queer-friendly environment. Unfortunately, the vibe didn’t match the visuals. Right from the start, the energy felt off. The bartenders were noticeably uptight, which might have been just an off night, but it definitely set a tone. That vibe extended to the crowd too; it didn’t feel like the welcoming, free-spirited space we were hoping for. According to the website, a DJ was supposed to kick things off at 10 PM so people could dance. The DJ was present during the RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing, but oddly disappeared the moment it hit 10. Instead of a dance party, we were left with random old TV shows and some generic, borderline-trashy club music playing in the background. It was a letdown after what felt like a promising start. Mary’s might have potential, especially with that stunning interior, but they’ve got some work to do if they want to create the kind of atmosphere that makes people want to stay, dance, and come back. Edit 7/21/25: The owner’s response below speaks for itself. For context, it was just me and my girlfriend, seated relatively far from the DJ, not a loud group nor caused a scene.
been going here regularly for the past month it’s a nice vibe with great cocktails and great interior design! i love being able to just sit at the booths with heart tables and genuinely relax while listening to good music surrounded by great people! every time ive been in on a weeknight monica has been working and she’s the best! monica remembers my drink every time ive stopped in and is genuinely a great soul to chat with! I haven’t been able to scope out the weekend vibes as i’m always there in a slow weekday but i love this place!
