It’s great to check out , if you’re visiting or have never been there. It’s an old classic and the drag shows are great. The drag queens , especially Elektra, are very talented and friendly. Security, coat check, and bartenders are also very welcoming and friendly. However, Gay90’s is not for everyone. If your Genx like me, go for the experience. Just beware that some areas of the club are loaded with 18-21 yr old college kids. It’ll start to feel like you’re chaperoning prom. Leave them alone and go upstairs and watch the shows.

I was there with some friends on a Thursday night. We had so much fun! Tasha ( spelling) was working the front door. So wonderful and helpful! We had a missing phone at the end and they were extremely patient and helpful with us finding it!! It was great customer service! Shout out to Tasha!!

My friends and I went out two weeks ago and we had a horrible time from start to finish. I would give 0 stars if I could. While we waited in line to get in we had the most aggressive pat down of our lives you would have thought we did 9/11. The security guard stared my friends and I in the eyes and unzipped our coats while forcing it open and "man handling" us. SHE then processed to lift my pants so high they reached my chest and my legs dangled from the ground. I stated I was uncomfortable and didn’t even get clear communication as to what was happening but the security guard took my confusion as me treating the challenge her and got even more aggressive, she asked if I had a problem and stated that she could solve it. I couldn’t figure out if we were trying to get into the club or to be prisoners on death row. If the security needs to bee that high I don’t even feel comfortable going. As we walked in, there were crackheads and drug addicts of all ages 16-60. The vibes were HORRIFYING! People stumbling left and right and folding over. It looked a complete mess and there were security guards patrolling and asking us to take our hats off when we walked in so they could "see our faces". Ironically I’ve never felt more unsafe in my life. As a woman in my 20s going out in Minneapolis with friends should never feel like we’re going through TSA and if that IS the case… we should feel protected once we’re inside and not watched like criminals surrounded by obviously high people off more than just alcohol. The 90s used to be a fun place with many different rooms for many different vibes. Now it’s somewhere for kids to get in with fake ids, grown men to watch and pry on you, and security guards in every corner making the place unbearably uncomfortable. I did not feel welcomed or protected. I felt violated and would absolutely never go back after the experience. I’m very disappointed and will be steering everyone I know away from the gay 90s. I could only ask myself what happened to make the atmosphere so tense and chaotic?!!! 0/10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was fun and divey, and everyone here was having a good time. My coworker from Minnesota recommended that I check this place out with my girlfriend, so we did. I don’t know what I expected, but coming from New York I was admittedly blown away by the size of this place. It’s got massive strip club vibes, and there were definitely a lot of straight people for better or worse.

Not a very fun place unless you are 18 years old and you are having your first alcoholic drink. 1) not very fun that they allow people under 21 2) not very fun that they have 6 rooms and in four of them they have the same genre of music. 3) not very fun that of the 6 rooms only one have something gay going on. 4) loved the drag queens. They were awesome. 5) karaoke room was fun. Bartender really nice.

It’s been Long time since I have been to the 90’s. The crowd was young and fun! Bartenders were friendly, karaoke was cute and no cover if you go in before 9 for karaoke. The cages are fun to dance in. Music was on point in every room. No drama …security was present but fine.

Don’t go get a phone charger from your car or the security team will have their fun yelling at you, treating you like crap, rolling their eyes, and throwing an overall fit! I understand cover charges, but not when there was no sign, nobody telling me about it if I go to my car for a damn charger. Security acting like I’m stupid, the main guy rolling his eyes, almost yelling in my face. Thankfully the guy that was bartending earlier said I was there earlier or your overly militant security team would’ve had their fun. Singing here is fun though I guess. Just bring a full phone battery.
