The SoFo Tap
The SoFo Tap in Andersonville, Chicago, offers a welcoming atmosphere and a diverse clientele, making it a notable spot in the LGBTQ+ scene. While the patio area and some staff members receive praise, there are recurring issues with service speed and drink quality. Management challenges and overworked staff can lead to delays and flat sodas, which may detract from the overall experience.
Despite these drawbacks, the bar maintains a loyal following due to its affordable drinks and friendly vibe. The dedicated team, particularly standout bartenders, ensures a memorable visit. However, addressing service inconsistencies and drink quality could elevate the experience further, making it a top-tier destination.

This used to be our Sunday funday destination but things have taken a turn for the worse. Takes forever to get a drink. Your bar staff is over worked and under staffed to the detriment of your patrons. The staff are hard working but drowning in mismanagement.
Was having a good time here until I asked for a water and was denied tap water. Instead I had to pay $3.50 for a bottle of water. I'm pretty sure this is illegal. If not, it's unethical. I won't be back.
Holy Crap! Stopped in for a beer at 6pm! Pint of Modellos was $8.50! With a tip that’s $10! Are you freaking kidding me???? Plus there’s NO ONE here - guess I know why!
The SoFo Tap in Andersonville, Chicago, is a gem among LGBTQ+ bars. Its welcoming atmosphere, diverse clientele, and wallet-friendly drinks make it a standout. With friendly staff and vibrant vibes, it's a must-visit for LGBTQ+ nightlife in Chicago, ensuring a memorable and inclusive experience.
I’d give it 4 stars for the patio and for Thomas, but the soda was flat AGAIN last night. When vodka soda/tequila soda comprises probably 40% of your sales, I think it’s reasonable to expect them to get one of the 2 ingredients right like every other bar on the city somehow manages to. Get it together 2 Bears!
One of my favorite places to visit when visiting Chicago! Drinks are cheap, vibe is great and the patio is a cool olaeentk hang out.
I don't usually leave reviews for bars, but I feel compelled to share my experience at this one. I'm a huge fan of this bar and its amazing team! The bartenders and owners are all fantastic. I especially want to give a big shout-out to BEE! Every time he serves me, he goes above and beyond to make me feel welcome, even when I'm there alone. Thank you so much!
