I’ve been coming to The Hidden Door sporadically over the last couple of years. It’s about time I give a review. I decided to drive down to Woody’s Sports Bar on Cedar Springs to watch the Texans game since playoff implications and divisional titles are on the line, and they bill themselves as a sports bar. Go to Google to see my review of my experience today at Woody’s written just before this one. Disappointed in my poor experience at Woody’s, I went to Hidden Door. Walking throughout the bar, I noticed all their TVs were also showing the Cowboys game. BUT, here’s the difference. First, the one bartender who wasn’t busy saw me walk up to the bar and was ready to take my order. I was greeted with a welcoming smile as if to say we’re glad you’re here. I asked the bartender if they only show the same game on all the TVs. Speaking honestly he said, "What other games are there. I really don’t know." I told him I was interested in watching the Texans game. Without hesitation, he told another bartender of my request. That bartender simply switched the channel on the outside TV to show the Texans game. There are 5x as many patrons at Hidden Door on the patio where the outside TV is than at Woody’s at the writing of this review. Not a single person protested when the game switched to the Texans. Thank you HD for treating me like a patron rather than something taking up space in your bar. Thank you for helping me have a positive experience at your bar. Thank you for your welcoming spirit. And by the way, if you want a good hangout bar that also happens to show various sports programming as an added perk, AND truly has the best drinks in town, get yourself to Hidden Door. You won’t be disappointed.

Everything about The Hidden Door is awesome except the non smiling RBF Moe. If he paid attention to his job instead of how other people interact with other staff he'd probably be a happier person. If he doesn't want to open a tab he runs your card every time and authorizes it for 50 every single time. No matter how friendly you greet him or whatever he is still the same stale stank attitude. I'd rather go when Brian is there during the week. At least he acknowledges a weekly customer!

I don’t know how the food is could be good. Don’t know how the atmosphere is we didn’t make it past the car. The security is wild crazy and it seems very racist. We were not even parked on their property and a security guy ran to the car because he seen the trunk up. We were changing because we just performed trying to support a pageant and yes we took a sip of beer but it was not even on their property but why are you in our car. You are in my car not on your property what does it matter what I do in my car. We were told oh y’all didn’t do anything wrong but we will lose our liquor license if they find out yall drinking in the car and I already seen you. Sir we not on yall property. You bored and walking around. This was our first and last time going. What I do in my car is my business. On top of that there is a truck full of white folks parked right by the door turning up and no words was said. Yes we sat and watched. Summary what I do in my own property off your property has nothing to do with it. And if there is such a rule it should apply to everyone. Despite of color. Sorry won’t be back and will not recommend. Thanks but no thanks.

Just tried to go with my husband and our niece. I’m in town for my father’s funeral, and we went out to have a little fun after a difficult day. The doorman refused entry to my niece claiming she was intoxicated. Clearly a pretext, and the treatment of my guest was mortifying. Never again would I go to this place.

Google review : Came here last Sunday for some drinks with friends — big mistake. I stepped out through the patio for a minute because my friend couldn’t find parking, and when we came back, we went through the side door since it was wide open and literally right next to our group. Didn’t even notice any "Do Not Enter" sign because someone was standing there on their phone with the door open. Thirty seconds later, here comes this mini security guard with a superhero complex, charging at us like we were breaking into the Pentagon. His attitude? Straight-up rude and unnecessary. He actually said we were "sneaking around." Sneaking?? Into a bar?? Where no one’s even checking IDs or charging a cover? Please. Instead of just saying, "Hey ladies, next time use the front door," this guy chose to be rude and disrespectful. Maybe they train their security to act tough because they’re clearly not trained in basic manners. The whole thing screamed power trip — with a nice touch of racism on the side. So yeah, if you enjoy getting lectured by an angry hall monitor in a security shirt, this is your spot. Otherwise, there are way better places in Dallas where the staff actually knows how to treat paying customers with respect.

So I was reluctant to give this place a chance due to the reviews and unfortunately I have to agree with some of the negative comments. I will start out with the positives. The place is very well kept and clean. The outside is nicely set up with TV's and a mister as well as shaded areas to enjoy. The prices are more than reasonable. However as previously patrons have said the service is desperately needing help. I watched the server help several customers before me when it was clear I was there first as it wasn't even crowded. The server also knew some of their names. This is not hospitable or a way to attract new people or you are solely focused on your click or regulars ahead of others. I have seen people comment servers can have an off day which is true but there is a pattern here as the reviews attest to. Also, I am in the service industry and you have ONE chance just as in life to make a first impression and that first impression is even more important in today's times especially with the service industry. I highly encourage better training and to be more attentive and welcoming to ALL guests to encourage more to visit.

Best Bar in Dallas. Great crowd, great drink prices and the best atmosphere of any gay bar in Dallas. The Hidden Door will be becoming my neighborhood bar when I get moved to Dallas.
