Barbarella
Barbarella, tucked away in Houston, is a gay bar that offers a lively atmosphere with reasonably priced drinks and a good selection of music. The venue’s security is attentive, although they could benefit from a more welcoming demeanor. Inside, the ambiance is eclectic, with a mix of patrons contributing to a unique social scene. While the interior could use some renovations, the overall experience is generally positive.

Barbarella has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 based on over 766 reviews on Google
Security takes their job a little too seriously. And since they are the first ones you see, it kind of makes a bad impression. No smiles or greetings. But the drinks were reasonably priced for downtown and the music was good. The inside is a little rough and could use renovation. But overall it was a good experience and I will come back.
Somebody needs to do something about that bartender "Shay"(?). She is extremely rude. She should not be a bartender if she is going to be treating people the way she does. My friends and I will not be coming back here because the attitude is just ugly, especially when we aren’t causing problems or being disruptive/excessively drunk. This club used to be fun but now it’s just full of pretentious staff and bartenders who make you feel unwelcome.
I asked for a recommendation on a drink since they don’t have have a menu and I go out often and I’ve never had that sort of response when I asked for a drink recommendation. Im asking for a recommendation to know what it is you make well so that I don’t get a terrible drink. Met some cool people for sure. The vibe was great however don’t leave your tab open, it’s always some shit. Guess they have an atm for a reason. Just pay cash, less of a headache and you won’t be charged an interchange fee for each drink. Short manager dude came over to assist. Useless. Over charged for drinks that already over priced, I have never paid $24 for two Mexican candy shots ANYWHERE, I paid for some drinks meanwhile my bf left his tab open. We were charged for two extra drinks, just fix it. Instead they tried to justify the whole thing when they’re wrong. Review your video if you have it. I guess I was drinking alone on his tab lol Maybe start with a new staff? Your current bar staff is terrible, the "manager" or whatever the hell he is proceeded to tell us to take it up with our bank then threw our receipts in the trash and walked off. Also the restrooms are gross, went to the restroom shortly after 10pm and clearly they aren’t attended to, do better.
THE STAFF HERE ARE AWFUL. My friends and I always have an issue with the small bartender with long black hair, glasses, and cheap-looking French tips. She is ALWAYS rejecting our drink orders, telling us we are ‘too drunk’ to order when we most definitely aren’t, and just generally acting rude and disrespectful. I agree with all the other reviews complaining about the staff here. For some reason they all tend to forget that they work at a bar where people drink and get drunk. It’s always something with this wannabe establishment and that’s why everyone’s going to Number’s these days and not here.
The absolute worst place I have ever encountered. They scam you for your money and make you come in pay money and do not even tell you they are not serving anymore but just pay to dance. Instead of letting the customer know this was their option do you want to pay the money they simply just collect. It’s a dirty establishment and I would never step foot in there. For anyone who is not from area and you are looking for a night cap after hours because their website says so is false advertisement and they will collect your money and treat you so disrespectful. It’s a trash can in the middle of Houston. Just be careful. I would never mention this place to any out of town friend if it was the last bar.
It was alright. My go to club is Numbers, but we came here because it was highly recommended. I’d describe the vibe as depressed early 20s. The dj did alright but every other song seemed to be a miss that they’d stick with instead of quickly fading it to something better. The drink I ordered tasted terrible so I had my half a drink then we left. There were also a lot of homeless a few streets over, so I’d discourage walking here.
Fun atmosphere and great music. The dj was amazing and was dishing out good music
