Henrietta Hudson
Henrietta Hudson stands as a long-standing queer staple in New York, blending a welcoming atmosphere with a dynamic energy. The bar has refined its space over time, offering themed events and a lively dance floor that keeps the night engaging. While drink quality and crowd density can vary, the friendly staff often go above and beyond, ensuring guests feel supported—especially during challenging moments.
Located near Christopher Street, it remains a safe haven for many, though occasional inconsistencies in service or inclusivity have been noted. The mix of music, crowd, and nearby dining options makes it a versatile spot, though space constraints may test patience on busier nights. A steadfast presence in the city’s LGBTQ+ scene, it continues to evolve while honoring its roots.

Henrietta Hudson has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 based on over 637 reviews on Google
I’m sorry to see a couple of constructive reviews because I’ve been coming to Hens for many years and always have a fabulous time. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, the drinks are delicious and the atmosphere is so much more fun and inviting than most bars. They’ve evolved a lot over time and their investment into the space clearly shows. The dancing is great and they have cute themed events and programming which are always a blast. Bonus, there’s lots of great food nearby to fight a hangover! I’m grateful for the efforts these folks put in and to have this mainstay of queer culture in our fantastic city.
Unfortunately, this is no longer a friendly place for queer people, especially women. Obviously they can’t discriminate against anyone at the door but a group of four straight men were repeatedly harassing my lesbian friends outside of the bar (essentially yelling at them to make out and making them uncomfortable) and then the door staff let all of them in without question! Into a lesbian bar! Full of other queer people now completely vulnerable to this harassment! They wanted to go in so they could yell at more women to make out for their entertainment, and the staff allowed them to! For a place that says it is founded on queer joy it is showing very little care and kindness towards the community it promises to serve.
We had a friend who wanted to order at the bar but the bar tender immediately rejected them by stating that "she should’ve known how to order at a bar." We found that to be really odd and rude of the bartender to say especially to someone that is new to these sorts of environments. The music is meh at best but it is mostly a space for white lesbians to be in. The drinks were also mediocre at best, but the second bartender was nicey. Tho i wouldn’t come back here if it were up to me to choose a location to go to. Especially now knowing the rampant racial discrimination that has occurred in the past and consistent issues with customer service.
Overall great! Heard dissent from the staff and two people were quitting that night from poor working conditions. Please treat your staff well so we can continue to have this queer bar for many more years to come! Visiting from out of town where in Philly all the lesbian bars closed, so it was great to see so much sapphic action on a Saturday night. Please keep Henrietta Hudson open!
My friends and I are so unbelievably lucky to have had the staff at Henrietta Hudson’s on a particularly difficult night. While dealing with an emergency situation the staff were so extremely nonjudgemental, assistive, straight forward and supportive. My friend and I helping our other friend had initial fears that we would be a nuisance to the bar and they would quite literally kick us to the curb. They did nothing of the sort, instead staying by our side and helping us through the situation. I truly cannot thank the folks here enough — queer spaces are safe spaces.
So cute & cozy & queer on a weekday evening! The staff are some true gems ❤️🔥 Thanks for the stickers!
Love this place. You would definitely enjoy yourself. It tends to get very crowded and it's hard to move from one place to the other. One more thing the drinks could have been better. I got mine from the second bar, near the restrooms. Other than the atmosphere is great and music will have you moving to a beat. It's literally 7 mins from Christopher st Path station.
