The Bike Stop
Highlights is a nostalgic gem in Philadelphia's gay bar scene, offering a friendly atmosphere that harks back to the classic dive bars of the 70s and 80s. The bar features a pool table and affordable drinks, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The service is notably attentive, with staff that prioritize customer experience, although some recent reviews mention a decline in cleanliness and security.
While Highlights maintains its charm and appeal, particularly during events, it's important to note that the establishment has faced criticism regarding safety and cleanliness. The bar enforces a strict 21+ policy, ensuring a mature environment. Despite some drawbacks, it remains a unique destination for those seeking a taste of old-school gay bar culture.

This is apparently one of the last actual gay bars in the City of Philadelphia. It's fun and friendly. And it's real! They have a pool table which is very cool. But it's the friendly atmosphere and service that makes this place great. If you are visiting from out of town or a resident in the community. Check this place out. I highly recommend The Bike Stop.
A blast from the past, for sure. Though its heyday may have passed it still has the 'dive bar' appeal. I walked in and was instantly transported back to Boston's Sporters and 119 Merrimac of 1978. The bartender was friendly and attentive; a quality sadly lacking in the modern "high class" gay bars. Others have mentioned terrible smells, but I smell pine cleaner. You gotta stop here: if you're like me (64), for the flashback effect, and if you missed the 70/80s, come see what a REAL gay bar looks and feels like.
This bar is not safe for women . I was physically assaulted at this bar by a man and the female bartender did nothing. Bike Stop you can’t silence me . Women who come here be aware of your surroundings. They will not protect your safety here.
Relatively cheap drinks and overall a great experience. Especially during events. Strict 21+ policy
Unfortunate... haven't been here in years, used to be a great time. No longer... bar is in terrible shape now, building smells like urine (probably from the puddles of it in the bathrooms). Bartenders are fine, if a bit rude. Security guy was VERY aggressive and rude, especially to people in the basement - discouraging "fun" when it's not allowed is one thing, starting screaming arguments with customers, leering, and being overall condescending is another. Past the glory days for sure.
Fantastic bar great staff always a wonderful time
Let's just say that drinks weren't the only thing going down at this joint. 🥵🥴
