Doug Fir is an excellent choice for a night out whether you’re going for their food or their shows. I went to see the Q and Baby Rose show at Doug Fir and was shocked at how large and cool the downstairs concert venue area is. From the outside it may look like a sleepy diner but once inside you’ll quickly realize it’s everything but that. Their fries are absolutely delicious and work as a quick bite after a lively show.
This place has amazing atmosphere. I love the vibe and the structure. The food and drinks are good. However I was very disappointed to find out that they got rid of their dessert... A place like this should definitely have dessert on the menu. All in all though, I always enjoy coming here, it is a very pleasant place to relax and hang out.
We came here for a concert in their basement venue, but had drinks and food at the bar beforehand. We were immediately greeted at the door. When we told them that we had never been in before, they gave us a great explanation of what was available to us. We picked the bar because of time constraints. The bartender had snacks and craft cocktails to us quickly. Everything was delicious and the drinks were high octane. We had a great time and were treated well while we were there! Very nice venue.
Great Vegan beyond burger! Plus we had the best service that we came back 3 days in a row. Also check out the avocado tosadas. You can get them vegan style with tofu.
05/06/17: 3.5 out of 5 - This is the second time coming to Doug Fir Lounge. It's been a very long time since the first visit. I came here with a group of friends after a long run at the Eastbank Esplanade. The staff were quick to be able to seat us the group, which is a plus considering that a group of our size can be a bit of a wait. The staff were nice. Our food server was attentive and very helpful. Definitely service at that level is notable. We all received our food in good amount of time. My order, The Logger, was a little more catered to what I liked and can be a little confusing. However, the Doug Fir cooks got absolutely right! The food was good and not so pricey in comparison to other breakfast venues in the area. The restaurant has a Mid Century Modern (MCM) vibe to it. Something to appreciate if you are into to MCM look. Overall, it's a good place. As always, I suggest trying the Doug Fir Lounge out once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!
Just had my first experience at the Doug Fir (Kainalu concert) and I will absolutely be coming back ASAP. The food is amazing (get the ceviche!), the cocktails are delicious, and the atmosphere is somehow both chill and energetic.
I recommend this venue. Great atmosphere. These photos were from Eric Rachmanys acoustic tour he did with Kyle Ahern, Geoff Weers and the band Cydeways. This was my third time going to this place and I look forward to next time. There is a restaurant that is connected to it as well. Nice patio area. The venue is downstairs and there are bathrooms down there as well. I would get to the show early if you go so you can get a good spot. Venue is small but a great spot for intimate shows. Also parking is just on the street. There is The Jupiter Hotel that is on the same property you can also stay at for the show that's pretty convenient.
