Badlands San Francisco

📍 Gay bars in San Francisco

7.2

Badlands stands out as a video bar in the Castro district, blending a lively dance atmosphere with a mix of entertainment and socializing. The dim, pulsing lights and energetic beats create an immersive experience, though the music selection leans more mainstream than niche. Staff engagement varies, with some patrons noting a lack of attentiveness during incidents, underscoring the need for vigilance in crowded settings.

Entry costs are modest before peak hours, but pricing for drinks and late-night access can escalate. Security measures are present, yet reports of theft persist, suggesting heightened awareness is essential. For those seeking a casual night out with a dynamic crowd, it delivers—though discretion with valuables is strongly advised.

PREDATORY SCAM ARTISTS - AVOID THIS COMPANY! 0/5 Stars. Big Boys Towing is a textbook example of predatory business practices. They are intentionally SLOW and delay service until after 5 PM just so they can hit you with fraudulent, minute-by-minute after-hours fees. This is a deliberate ripoff scheme! The staff is uniformly horrible, rude, and aggressive, constantly demanding extra cash. They even try to HIDE THEIR LOCATION to obscure their shady operation. This company exists only to exploit vulnerable people. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

Curiosity about the clubbing at Castro LGBTQ area -- this is a dance bar club with danceable beat. On a Wednesday at 8:30 pm is early but there were a few dancers to watch and others around drinking and talking. Dim reddish lights on the dance floor plus pulsing music gave that hot 🔥 vibe reminiscent of youth.

I had an okay time. It was a Sunday spur of the moment (missed SFO connection), 01:00 when I walked in and they close at 02:00. Made some friends had one drink. There are improvements they could make. It felt low effort low care. But I did have fun. The music was not gay enough that is for sure. Poor music taste.

Had a fun time until my sister and I realized both of our phones were stolen out of our purses. The bartenders did not care to help and were being super rude when I asked if there was anything they could do (like looking at security cameras). My sister and I were incredibly diligent because we knew the reputation of this place and they still got swiped. Not to mention the other people who also got their phones stolen too. Until they get this issue sorted out I recommend not going, these pick pocketers are professionals and will get your stuff no matter how careful you are.

I feel less alone reading these reviews because unfortunately, my phone was also stolen last night along with a few others. Honestly pissed me off and ruined an otherwise very fun night. Knowing that this happens frequently, I would avoid this place at all costs until they figure it out and take the theft more seriously. Paid $15 cover charge for my phone to get stolen!!! It is not worth the risk of your stuff getting stolen.

People get their stuff taken all the time and security cant do anything about it. Watch your phones, wallets and bags! I have had multiple people come up to me stating someone pickpocketed them or simply took their purse off their shoulder and ran while they were dancing. The good thing is the 5$ cover before 10pm. Other than that, its overly crowded (which aides in pickpockets) overpiced door charge after 10:30pm (15$+ just for entry, so get cover fee before 10pm!) and the drinks are a bit overpriced and kinda waterd down but not as bad as some bars/clubs nearby (10$+ for well drinks). Slightly sketchy but fun bar, ok dance floor but dont bring anything valuable or expect any of the staff to know any of the questions you have.
