Bastille
Bastille, a gay bar in St. Louis, faces significant challenges in its service and management. The staff's conduct has often been criticized for being unwelcoming and inappropriate, with notable issues of prejudice and aggression. The overall management seems to fall short, with disorganized payment systems and questionable behavior from the owner.
Despite these drawbacks, Bastille offers a lively space with potential for enjoyment, thanks to its patrons and occasional highlights like drag shows. However, the inconsistency in service, from exceptionally good waiters to problematic bartenders, can make the experience unpredictable. It's advisable to visit with caution and be prepared for a varied experience.

This bartender is extremely rude and racist. Last night, I was with a group of my gay friends and we were having a great time! I go to the bar and actually start talking to the bartenders daughter and all of a sudden he comes up and demands I leave (I’m a black woman). No context, no anything, I literally wasn’t doing anything. Took me back to 1920s Jim Crow. His disdain for black women is apparent and appalling. Do not support this establishment.
Went for a beer, walked in the other room to see the environment.. a minute later "owner/manager" drunk stumbling in complaining no tip on the one beer. That we should leave. Very Aggressive. Poor management.. pathetic
Use cash only! The staff has NOOO idea how to run a card! The bartender is rude, obnoxious, and unwilling to own their mistakes. Pay cash. Enjoy the other patrons because they will make your experience delightful! If you follow this you will have an AMAZING time.
Worst bartender ever. Never smiles guess he had allergies. Like my beer with ice. Gave me a Dixie cup with ice. Then told me not to waste the cups. Guess I owe him $0.02. If traveling do not go there with the plastic cup Nazi working. Guess you need to be a regular. Go to Boy's Town at least their bartenders smile & are good looking too 🤗.
The owner was very disrespectful. He was perfectly okay with my gay male friends coming in but I’d me and my female friend as soon as he saw me. The bar is gross and I’ve watched a random man drug me and my friends there. Don’t go.
I had an absolutely delightful dining experience, largely thanks to Allie our fantastic waiter. Allie was incredibly sweet, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot-on, and they ensured that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Thanks again to Allie and the entire team for making our visit memorable. We'll definitely be back!
This was my daughter’s first drag show and it was amazing!! The girls were that perfect mix of class and trash that you expect from good drag. It was fantastic!
