Great Grizzly Bear

📍 Gay bars in St. Louis

8.0

Great Grizzly Bear stands out as a welcoming dog-friendly dive bar in St. Louis, blending a laid-back atmosphere with a spacious patio perfect for unwinding. The staff, including the notably friendly bartender, ensures a warm and accommodating experience, while the retro charm—like the vintage Nintendo 64—adds a touch of nostalgia. Known for its solid pub fare, including crispy cheese curds and fresh fish and chips, the menu delivers reliable quality, though occasional inconsistencies in drink preparation may arise.

The venue excels with live music and a lively jukebox, making it ideal for both casual sips and lively gatherings. Bottomless brunch specials on Sundays and affordable pricing enhance its appeal, though service can vary. Whether you're enjoying a quiet evening with your pet or joining friends for a dive bar vibe, the blend of friendly service and cozy ambiance makes it a standout local spot.

The bartender with beautiful hair and cool fishnets is amazing! She actually served me with my 2 dogs and didnt ignore me while I want to smoke, float or chill. Great experience! Awesome service!

Cool bar. The pretzels are phenomenal. They even have an old Nintendo 64 which is retro. Megan is awesome. I highly recommend.

I tried 4 beers. All tasted off. I wonder if they clean their lines properly. Burnt burger...but was still good. Wife had a burnt sandwich....twice. Great live music. Food was great. Service was poor. It wasn't a bust evening.

My wife and I stopped here with our dog, and simply loved it! There's an entrance by the back for people who have their dogs with them. It takes you straight to their amazing patio out back. Nick and Jessica were taking care of us, but we also got to meet the new owner, John. He was very friendly, helpful, and proud (and for good reason). He, his wife, and sister have really cleaned up and redecorated the place, with much more to come. The ambiance, staff, service, drink selection, and food were all amazing. We shared the crispy cheese curds, chopped salad, and fish + chips. Of the three, the salad was the best, but they were all really fantastic and freshly prepared.

This is a bit of a mix between a bar and a restaurant (they have a bar but also table service.) There is a large patio as well. The food menu is pretty typical pub fare and everything we tried was good. They also offer bottomless mimosas or bloody Marys on Sundays.

I came here last night, and it has a dive bar vibe. Several people were sitting in the bar area and getting their night started early. Meanwhile, I only stopped by for a drink and saw this online through my quick search. The bar has good drinks, and they're affordable (for once)! My dog was with me, so I sat outside in their patio area. It was spacious, too. I would come here again with my friends for a chill, dive bar feel.

It's a wonderful place to let your hair down and enjoy some good music whether it's from the jukebox on the beautiful patio or inside from a live band. I've been meeting a friend of mine there lately and just getting acquainted with the place. The girl behind the bar is very friendly and took really good care of us. Patio is beautiful and the music is good. Looking forward to my next visit.
