Customer Reviews
Hugo's West Hollywood has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 based on over 1327 reviews on Google
This is one of the best selections of allergen friendly food in LA. Most things on the menu can be made gluten free or vegan. One of the few places where I could find pancakes that are gluten, dairy and egg free. Food was amazing, service was even better. Our server Evan deserves a special shoutout, he’s so kind, personable and knew the menu well-gave great recommendations. The chicken club and the pumpkin pancakes were a highlight. Def recommend and will be back when I’m back in the area. Also their ketchup was organic but most importantly, did not have high fructose corn syrup(it’s the little things).
Hugo’s has been one of those restaurants that I keep returning to year after year because it always delivers exactly what I expect. That kind of consistency is rare in Los Angeles dining, where places come and go quickly, but Hugo’s has built a reputation as a true staple. The menu is centered around healthy food, and they take that seriously without ever sacrificing flavor. You will find dishes that cater to just about every preference, whether you are vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, or simply looking for balanced and fresh meals. Favorites include the sesame ginger salad, the blackened salmon tacos, and their wide range of pasta options, many of which can be made with gluten free or kelp noodles. They even have comfort-style dishes reimagined in a lighter way, which makes the menu feel both familiar and exciting. The service is consistently friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed without trying too hard. It is the kind of place where you can come for a casual lunch, a healthy solo dinner, or even a gathering with friends who all want different things. Everyone can find something here. Hugo’s has been around for decades because it fills that perfect niche of reliable, delicious, and wholesome food. If you want to eat out and still feel good about your choices, this is the spot. It is definitely worth going to, and I always leave satisfied.
I had the Cuban sandwich for a breakfast/brunch, and it really hit the spot. It’s a darn impressive sandwich, and looks hefty, but really every ingredient here complements each other, the tartness of the onions, the freshness of the tomatoes, the sweetness of the sauce, the soft texture of the plantains, and the grilled chicken too. Despite its intimidating size, it was not too heavy. Great start to the day. (Note: I got mixed veg instead of fries)
Hmmm, I have mixed feelings about this place—maybe because I ordered takeout instead of dining in. I got a sandwich on sourdough and wasn’t a huge fan; it was pretty bland and lacked flavor. I also tried a protein smoothie, which was just okay but tasted a bit watered down. Overall, nothing really stood out to me, and I’m not sure I’d come back or recommend it.
We ate here 4 times (!) during our 4 night stay in West Hollywood. My wife is GF so after researching options prior to arriving, Hugo's was highly recommend and I am pleased to say it absolutely lived up to expectations. It was a real treat for my wife to feel "normal" dining out with pretty much every item available GF or modified to be GF. Food quality, atmosphere and service (not to single anyone out, but we had Evan on one evening who was fantastic) were all top class at an exceptionally fair price considering the location. We're getting withdrawal symptoms having now returned home and are dreaming of the carbonara and peach crumble in particular. Is there any chance you can please open a restaurant in Ireland?
Had a dinner with one of my bosses. We got to chatting, lost track of time and the staff were really nice and let us finish at our own pace as they closed. We really appreciated not being rushed. That was awesome! The prices are good and the atmosphere is really cool - they have a vintage aesthetic. As for the food, it was tasty and the portion sizes were just right. Their menu has something for everyone.
I’ve only visited once and won’t be back for a while since I live on the East Coast, but when in LA I’ll definitely make a return visit. My partner and I went for brunch on a Monday, which was definitely not crowded. The space was comfortable and attractive. I had the Breakfast Salad. It’s described on the online menu so you decide if it’s to your taste; I found it amazing. My partner had grain free pancakes, which he greatly enjoyed. The prices were pretty standard for LA upscale casual. The service was friendly and attentive.
