Went here for daily mass at seven am. Very welcoming once I made it to the right gate (they keep most locked most of the time supposedly because the some people of unhoused community had broke doors?). Saturday evening mass was nice too. I appreciated that they explained the Honolulu Diocesan custom of standing during Communion to signify that we are all one body… neat variation! Homilies had a strong focus on giving back to the Church so that was nice. Also the outdoor walkway had BEAUTIFUL landscaping!
The Christmas Eve mass was well organized. The church ministries were very helpful. The choir is amazing. It was a blessing to see the ceremony conducted with a Polynesian theme. The parish priest's homily was a shining moment.
My vacation in Waikiki was great; the church was very closed to the place I stayed. I was drawn on the history of the church even though the structure right now is a modern style building. I prefer a traditional style of Catholic church, but I open to the combination of new age and contemporary architecture. I went to 2 Sunday service, first was a visitor priest from CA who was also on vacation, but his parent was born in Hawaii. It was funny story because he was on vacation too. The second was the pastor of the church, he just came back from the mission in Brazil, so it answers why the first Sunday, I visited it was a replacement priest. I love piano music when it comes to the church, but they are focusing on guitar which is I guess it close to ukulele that represent Hawaiian style of music. Church was packed during the service. Warm welcome from local and friendly vibe from other visitors. I'm glad to be able to go to church on my vacation.
Gorgeous church with the most amazing singers and the priest was a sweetheart thank you I attended the 7am mass. It was very welcoming all the ushers opening doors.
Beautiful stained glass windows throughout the small church. Very friendly staff. Only open to public one hour before mass, so check their website for their mass schedule.
It was the BEST part of Hawaii...This Mass lives in my soul. Just Beautiful...Loved
A very solemn place to pray. They have daily masses (Monday-Saturday) at 7AM. The mass takes around 30 minutes since there’s no choir on weekdays. Entrance to the church on weekday mass is behind the church (small brown gate) by the parking area. The priest’s homily is spot on the Gospel. We attended the Thursday and Saturday masses, but we didn’t get the chance to join the Sunday service. They say Sunday masses has choir. They have 4 masses every Sunday from morning to afternoon. People are nice and the place is very clean. It’s just across Waikīkī beach, and people wearing casual clothes are ok to join. Just be modest, of course.
