Bernie's Beach Park

Just wish we could swim in the bay. I love to swing. It is fun and no adult should be afraid of that! Photos were take at or of the beach. Lovely to have in the neighborhood.

Beach was nice and quiet, but a nice breeze on a hot day. And can't beat the view. I stopped there again today for a quiet lunch. Look for the Capitol in the background, behind my shawarma and falafel.

Nice park. The beach buoys were set up on Memorial Day but the bathrooms were locked.

Went to an outdoor evening wedding held there, and it was a lovely. Playground equip for kids and restrooms available. Small but very quaint, tucked away in a little cozy neighborhood.

Grew up on that beach! My grandparents lived on lakeside..mother also grew up there. Know it like that back of my hand. Used to be real clean...you could catch clams and crayfish on the beach as well as bullheads/catfish. Lakeside street had a grorcery store(bernies) and drug store...liquor store. We had a blast in the 70s and 80s.

The park itself is okay, albeit a little small. The main issue is that the beach doesn't seem well cared for and the swimming area looks a little unkempt. If you just want a jungle gym and a bench to look out over the lake this is a good spot, but if you are after a swim I recommend finding somewhere else.

I always loved taking my kids there after the zoo. We would bring a lunch have a picnic at the park and then go to the beach. It was also a great time!!!
