Lake Nokomis Little Beach

Nice little area to jump or wade in the water, swim a bit, or even launch a kayak or paddle board. Nice and sandy for the most part, some twigs and mossy areas and not the clearest lake but it is refreshing on a hot day. Pretty sure it freezes over entirely during winter months, which I understand makes it perfect for ice fishing. Although no sure what type of fish are in the lake 🤔🤷🏽‍♂️

A favorite spot for a quick dip, beach day, or start point for open swim club. There is plenty of nearby bike parking, and then we usually find a spot to lay our towels down on the grass. It is a lot quieter and laid back than the main beach and we value that. The swimming area is fine, and it is Lake Nokomis so the water is murky most of the year. But it is so accessible and refreshing to jump in nonetheless.

The little brother of Lake Nokomis Main Beach, but still very enjoyable. (Also called beach at 50th St.) Everything is smaller here: beach, crowds, distance to parking, number of parking lots themselves. But the area in the water for swimming is large, and the lake, of course, is the same. The boat dock is nearby. Two vault toilets are available. Enjoy the summer.

Clean and peaceful. Can get busy, but it's mostly people biking and walking by.

Lovely place to swim, rest, picnic, or watch the sunset over Nokomis. As of summer 2025, a lifeguard is on duty again (after several years of no lifeguard).
