Good Earth State Park Visitor Center

An SD State Parks Pass is required. There is a kiosk at the entrance, you can also purchase day/annual passes online or inside the visitors center. But there are so many trails, both well groomed and ungroomed. It's a popular place to walk dogs, we spotted a lot of dog poop and pups on leashes when we were out. Spots of elevation, but hikes are mostly flat, prairie and riverside with tree coverage and boarded overlooks. Trails all well marked and so easy to read my 5 year old hiker can navigate the trails well. Bring water and bug spray in the summer, cna get very humid. Layers and ice cleats in winter, tree covered areas stay icy longer.

We hiked 8.25 miles, and didn't cover all the trails. Nice trails in flood plain, oak savanna, Prairie, etc. Some topographical variety was especially nice, with some up and down terrain, trails by the river, overlooks on ledges, and also ravines. Was very pleasantly surprised at the diversity within this State Park. A very nice visitor center which explained the history of the place with indigenous peoples, and their culture. Wish the fees were not so high, as some likely would not come because of cost.

Beautiful visitor center with lots of information. Well-marked walking trails that are wide and groomed. very beautiful area, lots of pretty wildflowers through the prairies.

Nice spot to stretch your legs and learn some history about the area! The video in the visitor center is a must watch- very well done!

What an experience! This is really a MUST SEE area to enjoy a sacred place for several Indian tribes. The Free admission and easy to navigate trails make this a very cost effective way to wear out the kids and the dog (allowed on trails with a leash). $8.00 per car load for a 24 hour day pass is a real bargain. Plan on spending several hours. With the Visitor center included with a video and cultural area and than the trails. A good time for all.

Good Earth is such a gem. We've heard great things and finally took the kids for a hike there. We loved the huge amount of paths with lots of variety in views and difficulty. In two trips we still haven't gotten to them all. The visitor center was really nicely done and had some interesting displays about the history of the location. We are hoping to visit often and catch some of the kid activities they regularly host!

Great museum that gives the history of the land, it's people and the surroundings. The hiking trails are great and fairly easy. It does get muddy in wet conditions
