We had a fantastic ocean view and even saw a lot of dolphins. There's a great breakfast spot right across the street. The lifeguards are a little too fussy but I don't think that's the hotels fault. Basically, unless the ocean is 100% still as a pond, don't assume you'll get to even put a toe in it.
Noreaster for our visit. Powerful waves, no ocean swimming. We made sandcastles and enjoyed alone time on the beach.
Nice view to the Atlantic. You can see the boats all day long. Beautiful morning sunrise. Soothing wave sounds all day from balcony. Negatives seen in pictures: plus one beautiful pic.
20250409-12 It has been over 5 years since I visited VA Beach. It is as clean and well maintained as before. This is my favorite Beach in the area, comparing to Ocean City, Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach. It has a lot of oceanfront hotels. Many hotels don't have on-site parking, and many offers valet parking and charges parking per day/night if you stay at one of these hotels. There are some oceanfront restaurants with outdoor patio, and some are even dogfriendly! The main strip, right behind the oceanfront hotels, is where the shops, restaurants and fun things to do places are located. The boardwalk is at least 2 miles 1 way. The lower number street section is not as new as the higher street number section. I always stay near the 30th street, much nicer to me. It seems to me that the lower street number section is more for the younger visitors while the higher street number section is more for the older visitors. There is a bike trail on the boardwalk, which is great for cyclists during beach season when the boardwalk is very crowded. There are clean public restrooms along the boardwalk. Highly recommend locating them before arriving just in case you need one. I Googled "restrooms". During off season, the beach and boardwalk are dogfriendly. Recommend checking the VA Beach pet policy during beach season.
Well maintained. Has a children's playground on the beach in the same area as the Neptune statue.
A wonderful place to go for a walk or ride a bike. The beautiful art work adds so to the area. Shopping for souvenirs can't get any better like wise the diversity in good food. My daily ride to ocean front is never boring thats for sure.
This is not a beach you will find sea shells as the resort hotels rake the beach every morning before dawn to clean the sand of trash and debris, but the water is fairly shallow in some areas very far out. You can fully stand pretty far out, which is good for kids. This beach has sand that is refilled by an inlet dump every few months so the sand is sediment filler. This location is also right by a main naval air base, so you will hear fighter jets all day long as they fly out from their base practicing routines, this can be extremely loud at times, young kids will cover their ears, I even had to at times. The shops are very predatory and will do their best to lure you in and get you to spend money, steer clear.
