Hurry to Water

Incredible YMCA camp in the middle of the mountains. This place is so full of history, that it blows your mind. In the dining hall, there are shingles from the early 1930s that show past campers and their experiences. When we were there, we definitely got snow. Depending on the time of year that you come, plan ahead for that. The staff was friendly. The amenities were great. The only challenge was the dirt road off the main highway leading into the campsite. But with the weather we've had lately, I couldn't complain too much.

Back in the mid-late 50’s, my Dad, Don, would take his vacation time and volunteer to do "maintenance & repair" at the camp and my brother & I, abt 10 & 12 yrs old, would basically have free run of the area. Hiking to Jenks Lake or just exploring the overall area. Were some of most fond memories. Once we went up to check something in the winter time, my brother Gaylord, climbed up the lifeguard seat/stand and when he tried to climb down, his grasp on the seat, which was NOT attached to to frame, flipped up and he fell into the empty pool, scary - he broke his arm, never new that "ol" man could scale a 7’ chain link fence, so fast. Raced Gaylord down the hill to hospital and all is good in the end. Next day Dad made permanent attachment of seat to lifeguard stand. Oh what memories ❤️❤️ Don

I went to this camp during the Summers 1999-2005. I love this camp. This camp made my life. The songs, the friends, the skits , and the fun thing we did. The YMCA was being so nice to help out my mom send me to the camp more than once each year. That place has and will always have a place in my heart. I will say everyone should go to this camp as a kid at least one time. If I wasn't in the armt and was able to send my kids to camp. They would go each year.

I grew up in La Habra and I went to this camp when I was little with Indian princesses (Pawnee) and for summer camps, even made it to be a camp counselor one year. I loved every second of it and have the best memories from my time there. Definitely 10/10 recommend.

I attended camp Arbolado when I was 13 years old. It was life changing!! I went for a whole week and I met some great people there. I enjoyed all the activities there. I liked how kids would be selected to go setup for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the cafeteria. Attending chapel every morning was fun. This camp was life changing for a kid from East L.A back in 1992. I never forgot and often reminisce on the experience I had while at Arbolado. I will forever be grateful for the County of Los Angeles in sponsoring my friend and I to attend for free. We were just two kids from the projects in East L.A that very much needed this experience. This camp made life worth it. I look forward to having my daughter attend this camp as well. Thank you Camp Arbolado for changing lives!!!

I been to this place when I was in 6th-grade during a field trip. The place was wonderful. I still remembered my cabin even after 6 and a 1/2 years after coming to this place. It was Cabin 11 and it had the word/name Blake on one of the doors. One of the counselors, Ashley, had this attitude towards me. I don't know what's up with her, but I don't know.

My grandpa Conely Davies ran this camp for years. What memories I have of either being a camper or staying with him at his cabin Hopi. So many great memories with family and friends. Both summer and winter camps and becoming a ragger. Hiking Sugarloaf mountain and so much more. Thanks for the memories....
