Greenpoint YMCA

On a cold icy day there was no hot water in my building. I decided to go here for a quick workout and shower before work. Only to discover after my workout that there was no running hot water here too. Thank you so much!

Wish I had read Trip Advisor before booking this place and had I not been jet-lagged from a long international flight, injured, and prepaid for 6 nights, I would not have even stayed here AT ALL. SO GROSS!!!! And the website pictures and description is VERY misleading. Even though this is a "non-smoking" place, my room STANK of smoke. The bathrooms (female) had hair on the walls, black mould (yes ,black mould) in the shower, and often ran out of toilet paper -- and mostly smelled of urine. I repeatedly spoke to staff and the manager, and they made minor attempt to rectify matters, but really did nothing when they said they would, kept making empty promises. If you decide to book to stay here, take LOTS of hand sanitizer, slippers and shower flip flops, and try not to touch anything. The AC works ok. There is a TV and Wifi was decent. Only thing GOOD about this place was 1. lGreat location in Greenpoint. 2. Felt decently safe with reception 24 hours (though staff are often on their cellphones) but the Y is next to the police station. However, room doesn't have a double lock, so was concerned a guest or staff could find a way into my room 3. Cheap. But seriously, it's not worth it. Knowing what I know now, I would rather have paid for a hotel or AirBnB. If you HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE.

I signed up at this sight I ain't see no creepy stuff like some of them photos posted on the YMCA the dude with the rings and on the wall what I know is they have a pool they have some cool staff it's quite and people go about there business to use the machines and swim which is good enough for me

Never trust staff!! They steal your personal items from locker!! I thought staff were friendly when I started coming in this YMCA, but I realized they're very lazy and helpless. I often find paper towels and wet tishes are out, I am the one always call staff. But they don't even fill them up properly. Also, one of ballet bars in the studio is completely broken, and another one is missing many screws and very unstable. Also the control panel for sauna has been broken more than months. The staff never cares and don't fix anything. On top of that, I found today the staff clipped my lock from daily use locker where I put my personal items in, they took all my staff out from a locker during business hours without no reason. I understand if that was overnight, but I visited at 10am, left gym at 12:40ish, came back at 8:30pm after work, I noticed that my locker got clipped and all of my personal items have been stolen by the staff. This must have been done by YMCA staff with special tool. I found them in THEIR OFFICE. As of 9pm on Sep 19, 2023, I'm at the front desk asking why this happened. Not acceptable.

If you dont want to spend so much money in NY choose this place. We had deluxe room with 2 queen size beds and large wardrobe. Bathroom is shared and not always perfectly clean but it depens with who you stay there at the moment. Simple breakfast in near restaurant is included in the price and metro station that connects you to the Manhattan is 5 minutes from the hotel. There is also a gym and pool that you can use it for free but we didnt have time for it. Also some shops and restaurants nearby. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Would come back for sure.

It was a late booking chosen for reasons of location and price. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The room was clean and warm. Unfortunately we were next to the Men's bathroom and there were frequent visitors during the night letting the self closing door display all of it's noisy power! (Avoid room 224) Communal wash/toilet facilities which were clean.||The breakfast was by means of a voucher redeemed at a diner a couple of hundred yards away. The meal was more than adequate with coffee top ups. Friendly staff.||It was just the one night and served our purposes before going on the our AirBnb in Kips Bay.||PS Formule 1 is the French budget chain of hotels.

Me and my friend slept well on the beds and they were kind of comfortable to lay on. The shared bathroom was the worst part of the stay. It was uncomfortable and the bathrooms made all the hallways smell of urine. The men's bathroom should have a sliding door that locks when your in the shower like the girls bathroom does and not a little curtain. It was a good place if you were just staying for a couple days. Not something you want to be at for a week. The "free" breakfast was only a $2.50 voucher for eggs or $2.50 off your meal. We were looking forward to getting whatever we wanted but it turned out otherwise.
