The Johnson High Performance Tennis Academy

TLDR: Do not sign up! Bad teaching quality, instructor missed class, didn't give money back (after agreeing to do so). I purchased a package of 10 tennis classes with Lendale Johnson a year ago. We did two classes, and for me the quality wasn't great, compared with other multiple instructors I worked with. Lendale was more concerned about their TV career and asked me to film videos of them and talked more about them being a star than teaching me tennis. Lendale did not show up to the third lesson. I was already at the court, when they let me know they not planning to come, only after I tried reaching out. After that I had a conversation with Lendale, as it seemed like the lessons were not working and we agreed that I would get a refund of the remaining $800. Following that I had numerous attempts to receive the refund. First, Lendale let me know they were sick, then they just stopped answering. I had to file a complaint with Consumer Protection Division, after which I again got an assurance that I would get the refund. Unfortunately, I didn't end up receiving any money back and Lendale has been MIA. Please don't fall into the same situation and DO NOT sign up for these classes.

Lendale was a great instructor for my private lesson. Very attentive and has great energy! He was able to see where exactly I needed more help and personalized our lesson to fit my needs. Knocked 1 star only because (personally) I find it hard to navigate the website as the lesson/package purchase and appointment scheduling are separate. Other than that, I would highly recommend! I hear the group lessons are a lot of fun and can't wait to attend them.

Would highly recommend! Lendale is attentive, engaged and engaging, and boy does he know his stuff! After 1 lesson I was already hitting harder, deeper and with more spin on both my forehand and backhand. He fixed my slice in about 10 seconds. I have more confidence volleying at the net and after Lendale addressed my toss, my serves are staying away from the tape. After three lessons I feel like I have tools that will to bring my game to the next level if I work on them!

Lendale is awesome. We just finished a semi private lesson as a birthday gift for my girlfriend (we were total beginners) and he was so encouraging, warm, and a great teacher. He also helped me with a lot of the logistics and behind the scenes stuff with what courts to use and booking them, etc. We are definitely signing up for more. Highly recommend!

Lendale is the most amazing instructor! In just 60mins I learned more than I had learned in 2 lessons with another instructor. He taught me all the basics and I noticed my form immediately improved. In fact, he was so great I booked 10 more lessons right after my first. He's super patient and has great energy and is everything you want in a coach. I can't recommend him enough.

Lendale is a great coach and made me, a true tennis rookie, feel comfortable progressing right away with his direction. If you're looking for a fun way to improve your tennis game quickly, I can't recommend him highly enough - already looking forward to my next lesson!

I have taken three private lessons with Lendale and he is a wonderful tennis instructor. He explains things clearly and he is always encouraging me to do my best. He pays close attention to my technique and he gives practical and easy to incorporate tips to improve my forehands and backhands. After three lessons, I feel like my tennis game has improved so much more than I could have imaged. I would 100% recommend Lendale as a tennis instructor.
