Lookout Ridge Group Camp

Nice site with gorgeous views. Early June, it was very dry and the site is mostly dirt, with one water spigot in the center of camp. There is no lake access from this site!! It's probably at about 250ft elevation so the switchback trails are a 3 mile (one way) trek to the closest lake access spot. Site is rated for 50 people -- it could hold up to 75 no problem, but overall the site is sloped down from the parking area so there are only a few flat places for pitching tents that aren't under potential falling eucalyptus branches. Wide open field means there is little shade for those tents. Choose carefully! This site is also where the Columbine trail picks up, so you will have randoms walking right through at any time. The positives are the view and the size, and that you can drive all the way in on the access road and just have to haul your stuff from the parking area (max maybe 75 yards) but if you're looking for a really great group site, I'd pass.
