Great experience! Beautiful park. Came in for a one night backpacking trip for a 5ish mile hike around duck pond, talala, and Penn farm trail. There are two primitive camping spots (mowed down grass in a circle to make camp), one by duck pond and one in the middle of Talala. The Talala one had better views but was colder because it was on a hill so I stayed at duck pond. There’s also fire pit family camping and RV spots, but that’s not why I was there. The trails were nice, lots to look at when hiking. I ended up getting turned around the next morning on my hike and ended up on the outskirts of the park, had to call the ranger office to come pick me up in a nearby neighborhood haha. Good adventure, I’ll probably go again
Absolutely loved our visit to Cedar State Park! It’s a beautiful and peaceful place surrounded by nature. The park is very clean and well-maintained, with plenty of picnic tables, BBQ areas. We enjoyed walking by the lake and spending quality family time outdoors. Perfect spot for a relaxing weekend getaway! ☀️
Nice place for a walk if you don’t mind it being a little less treed, than other parks (I.e. Tyler state park) but nonetheless, an enjoyable time. The park employees were very nice the facilities plentiful and thankfully, the park was not overly crowded. Seeing the 1800s farm and equipment was very cool!
It's a nice park, RV's and tent camping available on full hookup sides. We experienced that over the weekends people are trashing the restrooms and just wondering or they do that at home also. A lot of people don't believe in picking up dog poop. My husband killed a lot of fire pits that people left behind without making sure that it was completely out. Please, take care of this beautiful Park. The staff is very helpful and nice.❤️
We stayed with our RV from Sept 21-27. Space was nice, full hook-ups. The office workers were super nice and we liked that it was gated and you have to pay to come in. The park and restrooms ( the one we used) was clean. So many very nice covered picnic areas with tables and walking trails around the waters edge. The area around the park had several restaurants and a nearby Walmart. We got to ride our bikes and that was so nice during the week not as many visitors or campers The sun sets were beautiful to go and watch. The only complaint was that the speed limit we feel is to fast for as many people that are out there camping, fishing, or just picnicking. ( we went to watch the sunset and a truck was literally coming sideways towards us! So please get the rangers out there to enforce the speed limits!! But a great stay to go site see the Dallas/Fort worth area.
For MTB fans, Cedar Hill SP offers the most natural off-road biking experience in DFW. It’s an aesthetically pleasing ride, factoring in a dynamic range of switchbacks on both uphill and downhill runs, and built in features that meld with the terrain (not overtake with the adulteration of technicals or drops beyond what the terrain offers). This is NOT a comparative trail to Big Cedar or Boulder. It has some features that are similar to that of North Shore, and even more of what you would experience at Sister Grove. Rattlesnakes are common on some rides in the spring and summer months. The lake views are quite the site - and there is much to like about a State Park with trails that are built for XC. Careful on the rocks - they do kick up quite hard on the frames (ouchies for carbon frames)
Great place to bring the family. Lots of seating and space for everyone. The streets in the RV area really needs repairs.
