Carowinds Camp Wilderness

We booked 2 pull through rv sites. Both sites were INFESTED with ants. Our RV’s were then INFESTED with ants. We requested that they come spray the sites but we do not believe they did this. |They gave us a can of ant spray. |I am still trying to get the ants out of the RV!

I booked the largest cabin, the lodge, 3 months in advance for our trip for Scarowinds. We weren't able to check in til about 11pm after doing the park all day, and when we got to the lodge my sister's were immediately covered in bed bugs in the bunk room. They were all over the walls, the beds, absolutely infested. The woman working was very apologetic and said this never happened before and offered a refund. We had to call for over 30+ min to find a hotel for all of us. Carowinds never called me back, never gave a refund, and never answered emails. I had to go through our credit card company to dispute the charge. Afterwards, I see Google reviews from 2 months ago mentioning the bed bugs in the same room. They aren't doing anything about it, its definitely getting worse and they are still allowing people to book the cabin. Customer service has done nothing. They won't answer my calls. Do not stay here.

This was an overnight stay for us at the campground, during our trip heading to FL. So glad we stopped here. The staff was friendly and helpful, and after a very long day of driving, it was a blessing having a pull-through site. We didn't even disconnect the truck so we'd be ready for our 6am start the next morning. We didn't see much of the campground, but our site was clean and level with full hookups and good water pressure. We could here the park goers having fun at Carowinds, but once the park closed, it was quiet. This isn't a typical overnight stop, but it worked just fine for us. Would love to come back when we had more time.

The staff has NO clue about the purchase of the tickets for Carowinds amusement park. The cabin is beautiful and clean, however they do not supply ANY kitchen or grilling utensils, paper towels, or tissues. They did supply 8 bath towels and 8 wash cloths along with a bar of hand soap and bath soap and one each of "one use" shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion. When you ask at the office about utensils, they don't even have a bundle to provide you with or any for sale even. They provide 8 dinner and 8 salad plates, 8 big bowls and 8 coffee cups, along with silver ware. There are 3 pots, one lid and a skillet.

Bed bugs EVERYWHERE in the great wilderness lodge. Staff tried to help initially which was nice but now will not answer any phone calls. The smell in the bunk room is what initially gave it away, and the movements on the walls was noticeable. Do not stay here if you don't want to bring all that back home with you.

I stay here every year because it's located in a good area, but for years NO improvements have been made the site's get muddy when it rains, the bathrooms need renovation, the store on the site is really in need of good products and renovation, it's sad that no one sees or cares because this place has potential to be a good campsite....

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! The staff at the office was friendly. When we checked into our cabin, one of the first things we noticed was the "couch" (rag-tag futon) was broken. When I notified the front office they immediately moved us to another cabin. That cabin had a refrigerator that leaked, broken flooring, mold in the bathroom, and mold around the kitchen sink area. Once I noticed this I immediately checked out, asked for a full refund (only got the unused nights back) and went to a hotel. For over $240 a night, my family and I WILL NOT live in a mold infested cabin and settle with broken furniture that my dog wouldn’t sleep on. No one from the office has contacted me or made any attempt to make things right. BTW, the hotel was only $150 a night and came with clean rooms, free hot breakfast, and an even friendlier staff. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
