Malaquite Campground

Beautiful & secluded, this was the prettiest beach we visited on the entire Texas Gulf Coast. No bugs, just gorgeousness. Well worth the short drive from the tourism and development in the Corpus Christi area. Also much more quiet than Mustang Island State Park several miles further north, though MISP has hookups and Malaquite is dry camping. Dump station was being rebuilt when we were there in late January 2026. Should be operating again by now.

What a find! If you like to get away from the crowd this is the place to go. No hookups but they do have a dump station if you're in a rv. There were quite a few people tent camping on the beach as well as rv'ers in the park. Lot is laid out in straight road with campers on each side. Not at all crowded with very large spaces.|Nice beach and fishing areas. They have showers but no hot water. Everyone was friendly and helpful - this was a VERY refreshing change from most other parks in the area. I will definitely go there again if in the area.

This is a dark park. Although the 2 old ladies next to me had a very bright light. We worked it out. I turned off my generator before curfew and they turned out their light. The stars were absolutely breathtaking. I do have a problem with dogs. I was attacked by a chow when I was 5, so I am afraid of them. Met a man on the pier with his dog. The dog ran right up to me. I told him I'm afraid of dogs. The dog was NOT on a leash. Fortunately, he wasn't wagging his tail but wasn't aggressive. That's a problem that really needs to be addressed. I understand people living their dogs. But they need to obey the rules. But overall ... I loved the beautiful night skies and stars And surf...

Great location and price. Hot water is available for your hands, but not for the shower. An 8 point buck was feeding 30 yards from my RV during the night. Dan was an excellent host and very responsive to needs. 40 yards to the beach!

Good: FCFS national park campground. We visited during government shutdown 2025. The facilities were sufficient for camping, flush toilets, showers, soap and paper towels. Water spigots in a few places and dump station on the way out. Staff was visible and working even during shutdown. Bad: PEOPLE! Noisy campers, not picking up after their dogs, leaving trash around, rinsing off vehicles at water spigots, and more.

What an awesome campsite! Restrooms, bath house & beach access! No reservations. First come basis. Currently only $14 nightly. No electric. No wifi. Just the sound of waves &an awesome breeze!

No phone reception. Make sure to make all calls before entering Beautiful beaches and lots of fun. Pack in pack out. Pick up after your pets please. Not fun being barefoot and stepping in pet mess. As I saw others do this not me thank goodness. Be safe and have fun
