Gorgeous park, breathtaking fauna and wildlife, clean trails, and friendly people/volunteers who were more than happy to fill us in on the history and wildlife. We only had the time to hit the quick 0.8 mi loop, but that was enough before we continued to San Francisco to catch a flight back home. I wanted to see the redwoods before we ended our first visit to California, and this park offered everything I could think of, condensed into a small, cute, and very friendly trail. We're from NC, and I can say this will definitely be a park we will visit again as soon as we can!
Absolutely amazing! Cool little walk through the forest and very accessible from a mobility stand point. You get to see some GIANTS right from the start which is perfect for those requiring mobility devices and there are several different paths to choose from and explore. This is a great spot if you want to quickly get into some massive trees very conveniently! The $10 entry is WELL worth it!
Nature beauty. Great for hikes with different levels tracks. Suitable for family or team building activity. We visited it with colleagues while meeting in California and took a drive to it from Santa Clara. Huge old redwood trees. Water / river some tracks need to be careful , not complex but some of them can be above easy. Recommended to disconnect and recharge in pure nature. Well maintained and signs with information.
Absolutely wonderful park. We had a great time walking through the trails. They were easy enough for our toddler to enjoy them as well. There also looks to be some nice camping options, so we'll definitely be coming back to spend more time under these amazing trees!
This location offers a truly exceptional experience, showcasing the remarkable beauty of nature. The grandeur of the trees is particularly impressive. All pathways were clearly marked and meticulously maintained. This is an essential destination if you are visiting Santa Cruz. Please note that not all paths are accessible to dog owners; kindly adhere to park regulations. The Pipeline Road Trail is highly recommended for those accompanied by dogs. For visitors without canine companions, all trails are available for exploration. The Redwood Grove Trail features the world's tallest and second-tallest standing trees. When you're on any trail, please make sure to pay close attention to the ground, there are several species of mushrooms growing around the park and among them were the death cap mushrooms, please stay away from them! The Roaring camp can also be accessed from the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.
Did a lovely 0.8mile hike with small kids. They loved it. The trail is very well marked (you are closed in by little fences to protect the essential undergrowth). Lots of neat facts and cool info to learn.
We’re in the area for my brother’s treatment for a rare form of cancer at Stanford, and before his surgery, we wanted to check something off his bucket list — seeing the redwoods. Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park was only 45 minutes from our Airbnb and recommended by our host, and lemme tell ya, it was absolutely 💯 worth it. Pictures don’t do it justice — you can’t truly fathom how massive and peaceful those trees are until you’re standing beneath them. The 0.8-mile loop trail is super easy, flat, and accessible for just about anyone. It’s quiet, serene, and feels almost magical as you walk beneath those towering giants. Seeing the Seymour Tree was really cool, but our favorite was the one that almost looks like a giant saguaro cactus — it’s incredible in person! 🌲 We’re so glad we went. It was one of those experiences that just stays with you — peaceful, grounding, and absolutely unforgettable. ❤️
