Greasewood Campground

Nice state park, if campsites are a bit too close together. At least not a sardine situation. Electric sites with central dump, water at the sites. The real draw for a full timer like me is the annual pass making for a very cheap stay. Good cell coverage here.

I had been driving for hours and was in need of a campsite before it got dark. The sites each have their own covered area with picnic tables and plants/trees, some shade and privacy with the vegetation. The site also had a fire ring and concrete slab. You have a couple choices within the loops depending on whether you have an RV or are tent camping: Greasewood or Cactus Patch and I believe there is one more loop but for RVs only.

We have a reservation. We just arrived. Gate locked. Can’t get in!!! No one to call. Paid in full. Super frustrating.

Beautiful desert campground! You can hear a train horn occasionally, but we loved it here.

This park is very peaceful. I enjoy being there. NM residents need an annual pass, seniors and the disabled, it's $150, prorated out to December because each new pass starts January 1st and ends December 31st now. Camp host Phil is nice, and Rangers Austin and Art are courteous. Once you have your annual pass (has to be paid in cash), you can use a credit card to reserve a camping site through Reserve America website. The day use area is across the river and can be paid either at the pay box by the large Stop sign at the Entrance, or at the main office. DAY USE PAYMENTS ARE NOT THE SAME AS DOING A RESERVATION FOR A CAMPSITE THROUGH RESERVE AMERICA. HOPE THIS HELPS FOLKS VISITING.

Great campground within Leasburg Dam State Park. Lovely views, and if you're lucky you'll see some wildlife. Each campsite has a shelter. Set up your tent in the shelter if you don't want to sleep on the rocks. This is a peaceful place, but a place of nature, so come prepared.
