After reading all the reviews we decided to book site #10 its in the upper loop. Its at the top of a ridge and we only had 2 "neigbors" but weren't close at all. We booked a sunday through Tuesday. Only took away one star because it was almost impossible to find the camp host to buy wood or pay extra fees but they drove around once or twice a day . Also the upper loop portal potties need toilet paper but we brought some so it wasn't an issue. We took walks around the park, went to the day use area and bonita park area both days and had an amazing time. Site ten is relatively flat we put our 13 man tent under the large tree and had only a gently slope. As for people saying the creek and sites have trash everywhere, as of october 21st 2025 there is NONE . I genuinely didnt see ANY trash at the campground or at the day use picnic area. We all got in the creek . Our site had a spigot right out side it and it was perfect . And the fire rings are MASSSIVVEE. We will definatly be back before it gets too cold and again in the spring !
It’s always a great experience here with my man 🙂 I come every weekend with him and pick out different number spaces everytime. Feels good to smell the outdoors! ^_^
Shoutout to Mistly for letting us use his phone to call Tipple A. He was so super helpful and very accomodating to customers. Thank you so much Mistly! We really appreciate your help. Also, Applewhite Campground is incredibly clean and such a beautiful place. Definitely a spot I’d recommend to anyone. Honestly 1000 out of 5 starts! ❤️❤️❤️
Normally this Campground would be sub $10 anywhere else. They covered the iron ranger so you can't pay unless you drive to what appears to be a gated homeless encampment. Didn't feel safe walking in there and giving them cash so i went to the Ranger station to pay and they said the homeless encampment is where they collect money. I went to silverwood where it's cheaper, full hookups, and no homeless trying to take cash from me.
Very well maintained campground. I wish it was actually next to an actual stream or river but it's got very good sites with fire pit and fire grill if needed (which I don't because I have my own wood burning stove) with two concrete picnic tables each. It was very peaceful and I got a lot of reading time in... Also nice people running the place. My second time staying there and definitely not my last.
Last time I was here was about 5 years ago, recently renovated, a few trees were cut down and some campsites are permanently closed. The creek is a short walk away but I recommend driving there for safety reasons. we stayed at campsite 10 we booked online. Pretty good shade under the huge pine tree. Highly recommend. No campfires allowed on windy days.
Great cozy campground! I like that it's easy to get to- no crazy elevation which is nice. I also like that they have a nearby local market in case you forget to bring something. I also like that the sites are not too close together. Overall, everyone kept to themselves and was respectful of the rules. The camp host was also really cool- checked us in and went around giving updates regarding the weather and if campfires would be allowed since it was windy that day. The only thing that was a bummer were the restrooms. One of the women's restroom had a door missing and didn't flush and the other would leak water. Not a huge deal but I'd be mindful of being some waterproof shoes lol. Still, it was a Great quick getaway from the city. 👍
