I attended this theatre for the hip hop musical Slam Frank about the real life story of a pansexual Latin X Anne Frank. You know, the one we all know and love. Jokes aside, I absolutely adore this venue. When you walk in you’re immediately in a fancier lobby and bar akin to a luxury hotel. The employees are friendly, helpful, and informative. Letting you know how check in works, offerings athe bar, and clear instructions for getting in and out of your seats. Inside the venue has a variety of seating. I sat a top in the VIP section and highly recommend as you can see the entire set and stage this way versus sitting ground level you may have some obstructions. All in all a professional place that made me feel comfortable. I was able to meet a handful of actors and celebrities both inside and literally bumping into BBNO$ as I was exiting the building. Go see Slam Frank (a real musical) before it MUST CLOSE. And continue to support the wonderful team at Asylum NYC. I’ll be back!
Lance Bass of *NSYNC was at the Exorcistic Musical. A bunch of us met prior to the show, caught up. Show was very good. Then, we had the opportunity to do a Meet and Greet with Lance. We all loved it! We had a great time. Lance was so cool!
If you're looking for a super fancy theater this isn't the place for you. But I really liked it. We went to see Slam Frank and it was amazing! I wish they had more comfortable chairs though.
The venue is small and cozy, designed like a theatre stage with a center platform where the comedians perform. We went to see a show called The Naked magicians — it was hilarious! The performers were really talented and kept the crowd laughing the whole time. We had a great time. Right in front of the venue is a fancy bar where you can grab a drink before the show. No minimum drink order required, which was a nice surprise. Overall, a fun night out in a cool little spot.
Popped in on some time off during a work trip-- the staff was GREAT!! Amazing conversations, friendly people, and good energy. I just wish I could've stayed for a show! I'll definitely come back when I visit NY again.
I went there with my brother for his birthday! It was a comedy show -- Don't Tell Comedy. It was good! I would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't so tired that night. Great atmosphere, good comics, good drinks!
We visited on 8/25 to see the show Exorcistic. Long story short, we were disappointed. We arrived early and thought we'd have a drink at the bar during their happy hour. The first 2 beers my husband chose, had empty taps when the bartender tried them. Doors were supposed to open 15 minutes before the show and it was more like 5. The bar area, therefore became crowded and hot. When we finally entered, we got what were arguably the worst seats in the house. I'm not sure why we couldn't just sit in the main theater. Instead, we were shoved to a make shift seating area on stage right, fourth and last row. The seats were very close and I got to know my neighbor a little too personally. I could hardly see anything due to the tall person in front of me. When the show started, the speakers are angled out to the main theater, so we were straining to hear. I thought the show would be funny, but it really wasn't. The actors are talented, but the show just doesn't "hit". It was so hot and uncomfortable, we left at intermission. I would come back to this theater, but be sure to request seats in the main theater.
