Balcon Salon

We went to Balcon Salon for a drag show and had such a fun night. The performances were crazy, creative and super entertaining, and the crowd was really into it. Our drinks were delicious and we loved the overall vibes of the place. We will definitely come back.

I’ve been to Bar Balcon several times for happy hour and have generally had a good experience. The drinks are affordable, some of the bartenders are friendly and funny, and I’ve enjoyed the crowd in the past. On my most recent visit, however, the experience was different. I ordered a Rose Kennedy, which is typically vodka soda with a splash of cranberry and is big in Hell's Kitchen bars. After a few sips, I realized it tasted different. The bartender confirmed it had been made with grenadine. He did offer to replace it, which I appreciated, but I kept it. It's just a $6 glass of booze and sugar water, who cares. What stood out more than the drink itself was the interaction that followed. The bartender commented that no one orders a "Rose Kennedy" and said that if I used that name, people would think I’m old. That felt unnecessary and out of place. Other bartenders in town have told me to order a Rose Kennedy and NOT a vodka-soda-splash-of-cran, in fact, though they were nice about it. We finished our drinks and left shortly after. He had an empty bar and I wondered if that was what he'd wanted. I’ve had good visits here before, so perhaps this was an off night, but the service on this occasion left a negative impression. In short, they're hit and miss at happy hour.

Noah’s attitude was disgusting along with some of his co-workers! The ambiance and energy is great until you get to the bar! If hospitality is what your into, do better!

The bartenders were incredibly rude and unwilling to work to help instead blaming lack of management. Not really a place that helps the community but more concerned with making sure they can get tips. Definitely would recommend anyone traveling stay away from this place.

The bartender had us kicked out. It started when my boyfriend went to order another drink and he said "this is your last drink you haven’t tipped" although he did tip for every drink. When I confronted him asking if tips were mandatory he said yes they are this is a gay bar. After that he also said why is he even here if he isn’t gay? What happened to inclusivity? Also it’s not required to tip, fyi (and again we DID tip). Regardless it was incredibly unprofessional and the bartender is a horrible person. I wouldn’t recommend. The security weren’t able to help as they were kicking a group of 10+ people out who were enjoying the night without being problematic and buying drinks until the terrible despicable bartender (I think his name is Frank) decided to be a pathetic bigot. Overpriced drinks and terrible service.

The drag shows are very fun! It's called Balcón because the upstairs feels like you're on a BALCONY!

Bartender accused me of not tipping & cut me off. When i showed proof of tipping all night the bartender went to the bouncer and had me kicked out. Money hungry establishment that has bad music.
