I absolutely loved Cubbyhole. This queer-friendly dive bar has an atmosphere that’s both wild and welcoming. The decor is incredibly dense—rainbows, twinkle lights, hanging toys—yet somehow it all works without tipping into kitsch. We visited during happy hour and had Dyke Beer for $5, which was not only excellent but perfectly suited to the space. The crowd was diverse, the energy was joyful, and the overall vibe was fantastic. Easily one of the best bar experiences I’ve had in the city.
Fun vibe. They just let too many people inside (very small space, VERY packed). Like shoulder-to-shoulder at 11pm. I know they rebranded to a queer bar rather than lesbian but it’s pretty lesbian lol. A lot of PDA which was kinda jarring. There’s an electric jukebox. Pretty cool. They blow bubbles. Pretty cool. Not a place for dancing. There’s just no room to dance. A Long Island ice tea was $14 and solid. Strong. They also have $8 beers. Cash only. No credit/card.
Very fun bar! Came here for the first time with a friend from out of state. Friendly atmosphere, fun and interactive bartender with a fantastic jukebox. Will happily come back many more time in the future!
One of the best bars I have been to in NYC ️ We were there on a Monday afternoon and it was still buzzing and atmospheric as if it was a Friday or Saturday night. Deb on the bar was friendly, welcoming and hilarious, playing great tunes, drinking games and handing out free pizza! Super quirky and colourful decor inside. The happy hour is also great - $5 fizz! This bar is a must visit!! I have been back many times since and always have an incredible time. 4 dollar well drinks on happy hour!!!! Can't beat it.
This bar is Floridaphobic!! No not really, I love this place. I love the service here. The vibes and atmosphere. But it’s happened three times to me where I’ll bring over friends so that they can a place I treasure but they keep getting denied. People who are 25, 30 can’t get in. I’m not sure if the technology isn’t updated or what, but it has been a little disheartening. All love though!
Came on a Saturday night while Omar and Kas were working. They were absolutely great and handled the crowd well. I’m not much for busy crowds but they made me feel so at home. From the crowd to the staff they all make you feel welcome. Also shout out to the bouncer at the door for handling unfriendly guests with class. We witnessed an unfortunate situation but the bouncer was quick to handle it and took the guest outside to de-escalate the situation. 100% recommend. I will definitely be returning
As a visibly nonbinary person, I wanted to hit queer bars but was worried about being out of place. I figured for me, a lesbian bar was probably a safer, more welcoming bet, and I was 100% correct. I felt completely like I fit in, even when mostly I was just hanging out and enjoying the vibe. Good non-alcoholic drinks, and a great vibe and crowd even at 1 AM on a Tuesday. People were welcoming and willing to chat with someone who came alone, and it was a nice mix of locals and not. Absolutely recommended for trans people or just anyone wanting a good sapphic place to hang out.
