Hidden gem for outdoor enthusiasts! The setting is beautiful in the mountains by a river, and they offer ziplines, tube rental and bike shuttles as well as an expansive, low key, peaceful campground. We were there off season, but still surprised how empty it was for such a great spot. There are RV sites under big old oaks with water and electric, and shady tent sites scattered all along the river. The bathroom/showers were clean and adequate, and there are clean porta-potties throughout the campground for convenience. Also has a dump station for RV. The people there are super nice and felt like old friends immediately. Campground rules are just the thoughtful basics to ensure everyone has a good time. But be aware there are no bottles or glass containers allowed and no pets, measures to maintain this clean, safe area along a river that people swim and tube in. Respect for the environment is evident and appreciated!
The campsite is clean and the group site (2-D) location was perfectly secluded. The only concern was the fact that the trash cans and the porta potty were up the hill and it was hard for the elderly persons in our family (total of 21 members in the group) to access the porta potty without having someone drive them up the little hill. The bathrooms/showers have seen better days but there is hot water. These were not deal breakers for us, and despite the fact that it rained over the whole weekend, our family really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and we felt very safe at this campground.
Ive been coming here to camp and ride my bike every weekend this year and I have to say the progress I've seen is remarkable. I highly recommend this place its amazing and its family friendly. I bring my 4 year old often and he loves it. Its not just a campground its a full blown adventure park. Camping, inner tubing, zip line, splash pad, mtb park, and water park. Give it a shot on your next camping adventure you won't be disappointed. Ask for Ricky, hes the man!
To be honest; I was kind of concerned while reading some of the single star reviews and here’s my honest unbiased review after spending a weekend there. If you are a super clean, organized, and by the book person; this campsite may not be for you. There are rules to the campgrounds but it’s very relaxed. Show up, find a spot to camp; literally anywhere. If you can park and pitch a tent; that’s a spot for you. I love the free spirited campgrounds that aren’t tied down by too many rules and regulations. We pitched a tent by the river and parked across the dirt road. We swam, we tubed down the river, and hiked. Lovely weekend. Staffs picked up trash from trash cans twice a day and cleaned the portal potty daily. It’s a camp ground for camping; it’s supposed to be different than what we have at home. Thank you staffs for a wondering weekend. Service ⭐️ Cleanliness ⭐️ Activities ⭐️ Overall experience ⭐️ Will come back again ⭐️
First come first serve primitive campsites. Labor Day Weekend; We were lucky to get the last site along the water…a beautiful site we called "dragonfly splash lagoon." We playfully splashed all the tube-riders that passed. ||I’d recommend measuring out 4" foam padding to put into the bottom of your tube to prevent butt from hitting rocks…buy your own river tube on Amazon. It’ll do the trick. Water shoes are a must!! ||I wish the campground would invest in clearing footpath trails ALL THE WAY up and down the river so we could all walk it. That would be so amazing…like mage everyone camp 10’ from river and put in an EPIC foot path!! ||Great place for riding bikes!! Was thrilled my 13-year-old got four days to riiiiide all around with his friends. ||Facility is on point with cleaning bathrooms early each morning. ||Beautiful place to return to "reality" restore mind:body:soul and then re-enter the matrix. ||The water is very cloudy/murky maybe because it never gets to fully settle IDK…so have to get used to that. But it’s great!
👎 Terrible Experience – Would Never Return This campground was one of the worst I’ve ever stayed at. Everything felt messy, crowded, and poorly managed. There were no marked campsites, just a chaotic free-for-all. It didn’t matter if you had a reservation—people showed up early, took over the best spots, and didn’t care about anyone else. The portable toilets were dirty and smelled awful, and the small bathroom buildings were closed early in the evening. Staff didn’t care about comfort or safety. They just seemed focused on cramming in as many people as possible. Security didn’t help with anything, even when the music was blasting late into the night. We left feeling unwelcome, disappointed, and completely drained. This place is noisy, disorganized, and not worth your time or money.
La Jolla campground is a very quiet place during off season, you can hear the sounds of the creek running water nearby.
